Race 1) Hellyhunter. (Nap) This most consistent gelding can now score with Ruby on his back for the first time. A good 3rd to Case Study/Cadspeed at Naas a month ago.

Race 2) Silver Friend. The J J Walsh stable had their first runners of the year last week and came back with a winner. This gelding previously with the W P Mullins stable brought off a comprehensive gamble on his debut in a bumper at his local course Mallow in December. He beat Cranaghmore Mist that day who is a good yard stick.

Race 3) Kimberlite King. (Treble) If ever a jockey deserves a winner it is Matt O'Connor who was placed on a D K Weld rag today. A most consistent gelding he ran Across The Bay to 3 lengths at Naas a fortnight ago.

Race 4) The Corby Glenn. This gelding has placed form in similar contests on his last two runs, latterly to The Flying Dustman at the Maze. Ruby takes over today and that is a serious positive.

Race 5) Barney's Honour. Ran well in a similar contest at Thurles a month ago. Senior jockey Davy Russell takes over today and the hint should be taken.

Race 6) Lord Cebellino.(NB) The Lennie Whitmore gelding is rated over a stone lower over timber and exploit this mark having beaten subsequent winner Becauseicouldntsee in a Beginners Chase at Navan 3 weeks ago.

Race 7) Bishopsfurze. Another W P newcomer here. I wouldn't take too short a price as imo the sire Broadway Flyer isn't proven.

One horse going tomorrow(4.40 Fairyhouse) has taken my eye. He has been campaigned in a manner which suggests to me that he is being laid out for a punt. The horse in question, An Tarbh Donn is owned by a well known builder who likes to have a tilt at the ring. Like many of his other horses, they are never revved up until they are very well handicapped. This one was nibbled at last time out and ran a reasonably good race in a similar grade (5th of 15). In the meantime the stable has come into a nice vein of form. I have no doubt that this horse is well handicapped and ready to fulfil his real potential. Whether it is tomorrow or not I cant be sure but this horse wont be able to run in many more races with the handbrake on. I suspect tomorrow is the day. Any significant movement in the betting should be noted. He is 10/1 in the Racing Post.

2.00 - Hellyhunter looks the obvious selection given his good 3rd lto. Ruby is 3/8 for the stable, but he as to give weight to all here. Our Gar has been very consistent, but I think he really wants better ground. That leaves Playboy Luke as my ew selection - was a good 4th lto over the Cd after a big lay off, was 2nd to Voler La Vedette before that over 16f, this trip should suit the former Pt2Pt winner. Playboy Luke ew.

2.30 - Again an obvious looking fav, bumper winner Silver Friend. The stable don't have a great strike rate overall, but did have a winner and a third from 4 runners at Clonmel last week. Falcon Island has disappointed after looking promising and is hard to favour. Dun Masc has ran well enough in better class races with out threatening to win, looks the ew alternative to the fav.

3.05 - Not one for backing odds-on shots, esp on heavy, but if Kimberlite King can't win this he'll never win. Form of his 3 runs over fences is very solid and way ahead of these, should love the conditions. Erritt Lake is taken for the ew money.

Will look at the rest of the card later/in the morning.

I think Royal Reveille has a decent shout on the bumper. He had two good runs last year in points before being sent to Sam Curling this season. I saw him winning his maiden in Glenbane where he looked to have real quality about him walking around the ring. He travelled very well throughout and did it all with the minimum of fuss. He looked like he had the gears for a bumper and has been bought by Barry Connel for the job. Ted Walsh doesn't have too many bumper runners never mind winners so the fact he has sent him to Ted suggests they think he'll be competitive in bumpers before going over jumps. The obvious dangers are the Mullins and Hales newcomers and while they will know their jobs the experience of Royal Reveille and proven ability to handle the going will be a significant advantage.

I also have a sneaking feeling for Mollys Boy in the handicap hurdle. He looked a horse of considerable promise several years ago including a 3rd in the p2p bumper behind Arrive Sir Clive. His career has been an interlude of breaks since but he has still generally run with promise in his sporadic ventures to the track. It's a poor enough race tomoro and he doesn't look too badly treated all things considered. It's unlikely he will ever filly fulfil his potential but there is some sort of chance that he will do something in low grade handicaps and reward his connections patience

morning all

a couple that are worth backing today I think...

3.35 Harbour Hall - interesting for the same trainer jockey as The Book Thief, and Russel on first time today, suitable trip, ground and expect lots of improvement from this PtP winner on two chase efforts so far when not put into the races, 12s at lads and 10s at Billies but much shorter elsewhere, e/w punt for me

4.40 Lord Cebellino must be very hard to beat in rich form over fences and the 4/1 looks like it wont last long, hope they dont go too quick early on but if he's in touch then surely goes close of this mark for hurdles.
