Race 1) Grey Soldier. (Nap) This should be a stroll in the park for the Gallileo gelding. He was the only one to put it up to Rite Of Passage in a hot Maiden a fortnight ago in Leopardstown.

Race 2) Captain Cee Bee. (NB) This looks like another odds on winner. He had the measure of Sizing Europe who was not at his best when he came a cropper at the last in Leopardstown at xmas.

Race 3) Caduceus. (Treble) This should bring up the hat-trick for the jollys. He really put it up to Willie Mullins hotpot Arvika Ligeonniere in a Maiden Hurdle over 2.4 at Fairyhouse 3 weeks ago.

Race 4) Grand Lahou. A chance is taken on this gelding who won a Beginners Chase at Tramore on New Years Day. Davy Russell is in form and there is no better man than Arthur Moore for bringing on a chaser.

Race 5) No selection. I will leave this the shrewd Norn Iron to point us in the right direction.

Race 6) Kimberlite King (Lay) If the forecast SP proves correct at say 11/4 or less a lay should be considered. Reason. Matt O'Connor is still looking for his comeback winner.

Race 7) Benash E/W. Amazing that with 5 weeks to Cheltenham, another no show from the WP stable. A virus still in the stable? This one did it the hard way at Navan last time making all to beat the highly regarded but jadey Gormanstown Cuckoo on equaley testing going.

soapp ,what town in wexford is matt o connor from again ? thinking of going but to many odds on shots for my liking.
Report BJG February 5, 2010 6:43 PM GMT
1.40 -Grey Soldier behind Rite of Passage lto and well clear of the 3rd should take this

2.10 - Captain Cee Bee with a clear round should hack up here in wat is nt the strongest of races

2.40 Ambient Sound an e/w shout - a point winner but was thrown in at the deep end on debut, place prospects imo

3.15 Chiraaz bounced back to form lto wen a solid second, just fading out of it late on, goes on the ground and drops back in trip here

3.45 A very open race - Nanas Best e/w at least goes on the ground and was a solid 2nd lto

4.15 imberlite King been runnin in better races than this - 4th on both his chase starts to date behind Osana and Sports Line can take this

4.45 Minella Class likely to be a big price but a speculative e/w punt for me here - well beaten over hurdles lto but has finished 2nd to Al Ferof in a ptp

No idea WR. Looking forward to a good day down there. Could do with a few winners as was wiped at Punch last Sunday.

1.40 Grey Soldier Should be able to get off the mark after a good second behind Rite of Pass lto.
2.10 Captain Cee Bee.Bar a fall he should win this easily.
2.40 Caduceus Only beaten 5L by the useful Arvika Ligeonniere LTO while giving him 3lbs. well clear of the 3rd horse.Monastrell who finished 4th runs in the 1st race.
3.15 Frontier Lady This mare has been in good form this season. She has been the bridesmaid on many occasions but she should get into the winners enclosure tomorrow. She was 3rd behind Show Blessed LTO who went on to run a good second Dooneys Gate last weekend.
3.45 Premier HeroThis is a very tricky handicap but Premier Hero seems to be approaching a winning mark again.Plus the booking of Paul Townend is interesting as it is his first time riding for Shane Broderick.
4.15 Western Charmer This race looks like a match between Kimberlite King and Western Charmer. What swings it for me in Western Charmers favour is that Kimberlite King has never won beyond 2 miles whereas Western Charmers 2 wins have come at 2M 4F.He should also strip fitter for his first run of the season as he just seemed to blow up the last day.
4.45 EscuderoPaul Nolan must think alot of this horse by throwing him straight in to a winners bumper. The son of Snurge who cost 26,000 as a yearling should have no problem coping with the underfoot conditions and with a good pilot on board he gets my vote.
Report grade 1 February 5, 2010 10:21 PM GMT
laying kimberlite king on basis of jockey booking deserves to lose imo. its not like lad is riding a pile of odds on yokes since.
Report An Mhi February 5, 2010 10:44 PM GMT
lads the bumper is simple, current recession, related to weapons amnesty won at his ease here last time and rothwell mentioned afer connections got the urge won that this one was very good, won at his ease last time out and think with trip in his favour he'll win.
I think the first three that all above have selected are a solid treble and beg chase between western charmer and kim king. Charmer form to Mikael over course before is very good and distance likely to suit him better than kim king but will be a close race
Bets each way bet on the card is frontier lady, lto run as solid a line of form as there is with form upheld next time out, good claimer on board also and leop/navan form always stands up well in naas

Bet bet - grey soldier/Capt cee bee/cad treble
best each way - frontier lady - at 4's or better
Report sinndar001 February 5, 2010 10:45 PM GMT
exactly grade1. plenty of holes in him. jumping is rank, coming off a break and the trip all big negs for me. If Dessie can improve Western Charmer like he has Rarebob and Lenabane who had similar patchy form over hurdles he could take beating and of course Western was better than them 2 over hurdles. Jumped well onm debut when surely fitness told. Can't be easy for a fto to be winning at this stage of season. I do think Western has a bit of temperment but he looks the one to me. Oligarch is another who can't jump, Palace is as slow as........... (finish it urself) Across the Bay would have a chance on hurdles form but he has 2 rotten runs and Meade are 1 from 40-something since turn of the year.
Report An Mhi February 5, 2010 10:49 PM GMT
agree with above, when you run though the form, normal improvment from first run will see charmer win, was running in far better races over hurdles than these and has a couse run also. He has less questions to answer than the rest of the field. any ideas on prices for the race?
Report sinndar001 February 5, 2010 10:52 PM GMT
If u take Avrika Leginidkidfvjjkod..aire out last day that was one ** maiden. Hughes's jumped and looks straight forward but the 3rd is rated 105 and may not be worth that imo. Much rather Pay the Bounty who was realistically having his first outing since sep when 3rd to the hurl. I think he didn't stay that day but to travel as well as the hurl after 3 out was a good performance. To go with the hurl to 2 out and not get home is better form than hughes's imo.
Report An Mhi February 5, 2010 11:02 PM GMT
cant agree with that Sinndar, run in puchestown where 16l behind quel esprit/hugo de vin/rick is as solid of maiden form as there is and that was his 1st run over hurdles and won bumper FTO. Pay the bounty form, to me, amounts to nothing like those last two runs of Caduceus who can improve again, I saw Bounty's last run and trvelled like winner into the straight but didnt see trip out but his form just is not strong enough for me
Report sinndar001 February 5, 2010 11:14 PM GMT
i see ur point about his first run over hurdles but i don't really think much of rick and quel espirit was much the best that day and hughes's was 14l behind. yes tyner's was beaten 19l but i think he closer to the hurl than that because of the trip. we'll see.

Fair play to Naas racecourse.
e15 admission for the season including e5 free bet and e5 refreshment voucher.
It'll be interesting to see how successful this initiative goes through out the season. As it is a season long offer I think it will be very successful and will definitely prove an attraction during the summer.
I can see plenty of locals strolling up on a summers evening knowing it will only cost them a nett fiver to attend

Seriously good work BJG.

I printed it off and brought it into the local on Friday night.

I was told Current Recession would win but your pick won fair and square.

Western Charmer was pulled up as he didn't feel right.
Report An Mhi February 8, 2010 7:34 PM GMT
thought the jockey on current recession was a mess in the closing furlong, all over the place changing whip. If nina on board it was winner alright. Why he had to settle him out the back and then race all the way through before the turn in, on bottomless ground makes no sense. most of the winners on sat were placed handy enough of the pace. Just my opinion
Report yummy February 8, 2010 11:19 PM GMT
iF YOU WATCH THE RACE AGAIN OBJECTIVELY YOU WILL SEE THE WINNER WAS HELD UP,CAME FROM BEHIND THE JOLLY AND WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST HORSE IN THE RACE ON THE DAY
