This made me smile although its pretty sad.

A few weeks to go until the season begins and Dundalk have issued a press release with details of their squad for the new campaign....

FULL DUNDALK SQUAD TO DATE:
GK: Peter Cherrie
GK: Matt Gregg
DF: Wayne Hatswell
MF: Alan Cawley
ST: Tiarnán Mulvenna
ST: Neale Fenn

There's something that tickles me about having a squad of only six players - and two are goalkeepers :)

Best of luck to them though - Fenn on form is magnificent, Gregg and Cawley solid players.

Why would they bother with a press release just to say they have 6 players?

the press release was to announce the Fenn signing. They do the best press releases in the league to their credit.

''We'' meaning Shels if I remember correctly Ollie?

The Frank Young press releases are decent enough, but nowhere near as comprehensive and informative as Dundalk's.

Alan Cawley is fantastic player, when he was a teenager he got asked over to leeds for a 2 week trial, they signed him after 2 days for 4 years, he was given a squad number by leeds in his late teens, then O'leary named only 3 or4 players on the bench for champions league game when they had a load of injuries and suspensions, Alan righly was browned off with this, O'leary reckoned he was not ready yet still gave him a squad number, after that things went downhill with his career which is a shame because he could have been anything, hell of a nice bloke too. Dundalk are blessed to have him, he would improve any team in Ireland, i am sorry he did not come back to Sligo

Hes not that good

I watched him for Bray for two years, he throws the toys out the pram far too quickly, a lovely passer of the ball when he is paying well but he blows hot and cold to much for me.
