I'm in shock too Galwayman.... had have an entry at least... not going to get a handicap mark for the jewson either I'd say , that said that might be a bridge too far distance wise anyway...

Colm Murphy said a week before the Irish Arkle, that Chelt was not Zaarito's target this season!

He is taking his races well this year, but you've got good races here like the Powers Gold Cup and the Ryanair Novice Chase, so we won't be forcing him to Cheltenham if we don't think it's right for him."

That is a quote from Saturday. It's hardly a definite no. You would have to have thought he would reconsider when the formbook would seem to indicate he is a better horse than the winner of the Irish Arkle. He's not a million miles behind Captain Cee Bee either.

Generally I don't listen to what trainers say as most of them are a step below knackers in my book.

tgm - not having a dig, but CM did say last week that Chelt was not his main aim this yr, and f'house, Aintree & Punchestown were his targets.

Agree you have to pick and choose what to believe with trainers, I tend to listen to the neg comments like this as they tend to be true, or closer to the truth.

Why would Murphy send a highly strung novice over a demanding 2 miles where jumping is paramount.... clearly the horse has ability but jumps badly and gets wound up at the races

In my opinion FINALLY Murphy made the right decision on this on...but yet a self righteous gob sh1te like yourself clearly knows better and calls him a "dope".....

I know what he said downallstar, I have posted a direct quote. I think it is the wrong move. When he started out he looked like he was going to be an excellent trainer, but he really struggles to get horses to jump well and he has made some strange decisons in recent years.

Murphy has no winners this year, a 7% strike rate in 2009, 10% in 2008, and 12% in 2007.
