Race 1) Mr Cracker. Well backed many times has the ideal opportunity to open his account assuming he has recovered from last week's race against Ballyholland.

Race 2) Magnamanity. This should be a double for the Gigginstown/Russell combo. 2nd to Rubi Light at Limerick having been a previous course winner.

Race 3) Acapulco (Nap). How this remains a Maiden is a mystery. Short headed by Western Leader who stole the race at Leop over xmas, this should be the 3rd winner for Gigginstown/Russell.

Race 4) Drive On Jim. What a lottery this race is. Had word for this at xmas, but he never showed.

Race 5) Sea Bass ( Lay) If this goes off fav, this could be a ly opportunity for this on paced animal. Also 9 days could also take its toll.

Race 6) Nothing. As bad a Beginners Chase I have seen all season. Obviously a lot of trainers still haven't got over the freeze hold up at xmas.

Race 7) Kerb Appeal (NB) Ran into an in form Fenton at Cork last time, Old Charm. This should get the Mullins band wagon back on track who took a break at Leopardstown with their bumper performers.

I think Prince of Fire is a certainty to be honest. Looks to be going forward moreso than Magnamity.

Think Mr Cracker will nearly win the first but wouldn't mind chancing Ad Adem e/w at the 50/1+ its quoted in the irishracing.com tissue ;)

Agree on Seabass as a lay. Not sure if he is man enough for the course either along with the other doubts.

Kerb Appeal looks the Nap. He isn't a star but the galloping course will suit and should really be collecting

One that interest me is Hourseguard in the 2.45.... stayed on really well in Limerick and Naas a few runs back.... Townend (just because i backed it) seem to jump outta the saddle LTO. Has some decent form over soft in France and has some ability, albeit moderate...

The step up in trip should suit and he has a decent pilot up as well which helps....

Good ew shot

@ soapp Race 6) Nothing. As bad a Beginners Chase I have seen all season. Obviously a lot of trainers still haven't got over the freeze hold up at xmas.

surely you are not serious about that?

no real high grade horses on show but majority are decent animals on their day!

Lord Cebellino ran a cracker in the paddy power chase lto. 2nd in the finished 3rd in the thyestes.

the 2 beginners chases in which 5 or 6 of these have run in were not bad races either.

i think its competitive but not bad
Report Giant Strides January 27, 2010 11:27 AM GMT
Have to agree re the Begginers chase. Plenty worse chases at the gaff tracks.
Grab a Grand should have won on New Years Eve.

is there a shred of evidence to say that acapulco can stay a stiff 2m7f in heavy ground? these races are the forte of the national hunt bred not a son of Galileo.

i got the early prices on Jack The Bus - was hotly fancied lto when loose horse put pay to his chances.

think Because and Lord are both e/w values here too
Report The Gotchee January 27, 2010 11:52 AM GMT
Surely Dun Masc at 8/1 e/w in the 1st race from an in form yard has to be value rather than the odds on fav from an out of form mediocre yard.
Report le stelle di mare January 27, 2010 12:02 PM GMT
anyone know anything about A THOUSAND MEN? must have been injured since run in early '08 when with Mullins. that bumper run has thrown up some form and if fit and can jump then 25's surely too big here
Report Eye Mall Inn January 27, 2010 12:13 PM GMT
is there any evidence that he'll need to stay to win that race keen?
Report downallstar January 27, 2010 12:17 PM GMT
Acapulo was only beaten over 20f by an out an out stayer in Western Leader lto, doesn't look to be any Western Leaders in here, don't like backing horses with so amny 2's beside them, but think Acapulo should win well here.
Report Eye Mall Inn January 27, 2010 12:22 PM GMT
I'm not backing him at evens but it's hard to see what'll beat him even if he doesn't quite get the trip.

The flying pencil backed across the board from 10s into 5/1 this morning including on here.
Won its only start in a point to point and timeform advised to watch for betting moves.

I had a few pound each way on skyb*t at 8/1.
At 2pm he was 7 to 1 on here
At 2.05 he was 14 to 1 on here
At 2.15(off time) 21/1.

Trails in last comfortably.

This is not the first time i have seen this on a gordon elliott trained horse.

I suspect he is a gangster but would like other peoples opinion on him.

mmmmm agree
Report soapp January 27, 2010 4:27 PM GMT
Don't agree. He is an up and coming trainer. Won a National in his first year training.

This is his only 3rd or 4th year on the go and he has already passed the 50 mark this season between here and the UK. Not many trainers would achieve that so early in their career.

I laid it at 7/1 only because it was a pointer taking on high class rails horses.

As for the 21/1 the boys on track may have copped something.
Report dasium January 27, 2010 4:31 PM GMT
the liquidity on Irish racing on here or in the ring for that matter is often pretty poor ....can see massive fluctuations.... wouldn't be a trainer I would distrust in that way personally
Report downallstar January 27, 2010 4:35 PM GMT
Agree it takes feck all money to move a horses prices early doors in Ireland, quite often that price drifts back out when the real money is played on the race.
Report le stelle di mare January 27, 2010 7:27 PM GMT
i know some lads that have horses with gordon and he is a straight guy. gambles can be anything and not necessarily from the stabl. p2p horse going under rules could be anything and as mentioned someone may take a chance at 10's+ and snowball effect happens. dont forget, bookies like to make these false gambles from time to time and its easier to do over here where a lot of punters seem to wait for market moves to see which one is fancied

Gordon is a hard working young trainer, who treats his owners with respect.
There is no need to make comments like that after a losing bet.
