Third and fourth respectively , and played very well both of them . Particularly pleased for Shane Lowry , best finish since he turned pro I think .

Was 3rd in Dunlop phoenix in November-sky commentators seemed to forget that too. Played well today-could win again before Rory does!

how many times has rory won since he turned pro?

once? twice?
Report padlock January 24, 2010 11:48 AM GMT
rory is a dodgepot, well done shane imo

Once i think? Has a lot of top 10s id think though
Report irishro January 24, 2010 11:50 AM GMT
Once this time last year. Seems a bit of a Sergio on day 4-only starts to play when the win is beyond him-today a classic example. The longer he goes in contention and not winning the harder it becomes.
Report shaggykev January 24, 2010 11:54 AM GMT
thats what i thought

you'd be broke backing him at those crampted odds week in week out#

even in the majors he's only 28s-33 and he might make the top 10 but not top 5 for each way backers
Report irishro January 24, 2010 11:58 AM GMT
One of the reasons he remains so short each week is that he still manages to trade short week in week in-plenty of people bet him to lay no doubt and green up.
Report shaggykev January 24, 2010 12:08 PM GMT
yes but many fun bettors would be backing him regularly and around majors due to all the hype

all im saying is his odds dont seem to reflect his true chance of winning
Report Clerkmore January 24, 2010 12:11 PM GMT
See my thread on the golf forum "Rory - nearly man."
Report Kelly January 24, 2010 2:52 PM GMT
Rory is brilliant to trade though . Always throws in a few birdies in a row somewhere which contracts his price dramatically .

Cant call Rory a dodgepot in my book , Kaymer putted like God today and won despite playing the worst golf of the final 3-ball . If Rory had putted like Kaymer he would have won comfortably ( assuming Kaymer putted like Rory ) .

Kaymer is now 6 in world rankings apparently, so its no disgrace to be beaten by him .

Particularly delighted for Shane Lowry . He took a lot of flak for not staying true blue ( amateur) , but today proves among other things he has learned and worked hard at his game .

Happy for Lowry, a bit early to be labelling Rory a 'nearly man' but he's getting there.
Report CailiniDeas8 January 24, 2010 4:51 PM GMT
Kaymer is magnificent.

67 67 67 66. That's clinical.

I ve no doubt all the McIlroy knockers would be the same fellas who were probably knocking Harrington when he was having all the placed finishes before he started winning ..... As we know he is now a three time major winner .... But then again sport is about opinions and everyone is entitled to one ...Time will disclose all !!!

Have to say rory has done magnificently well to have reached where he is in the golfing world so early in his career , well done to the lad
What i am amazed at all the pundits have always labelled rory as the next main heir to tigers thronewhereas as a pro martin kaymer has acheived probably more in wins, Kaymer got injured last year which halted momentarily his rise in the golfing world
Report Win only - Sp only January 24, 2010 8:35 PM GMT
kaymar is a machine in fairness, wont oppose him lightly this season
Report platinni January 24, 2010 9:12 PM GMT
