Jockey Wilson was some athlete.

Buy dartboard. Buy darts. Try hit one 180.
Then ask yourself if its a sport. |
|
By:
Of course it's a sport. Sports are not defined by the people who play them.

A skill imo

Jockey Wilson on TOTP once. More entertainment than sport imo.

As a sports avid follower , cannot honestly say I have ever watched a darts match . By my definition therefore it hardly qualifys as a sport .
Main thing darts has going for it is that is cheap to put on TV , and while that continues it will be ever present on our TV "sports "diet . I regard darts as a pastime to put in an hour or two when you have nothing better to do , in between drinks , or have fallen foul of our weather . Ever seen an outdoor darts tournament ? Dont see it as a big sport in Brazil for instance , where you would be competing with the beach football . I still regard darts as essentially an English pub game , few pubs in England dont have a darts board . Thankfully locally we prefer the craic generally , although I suspect there is a creeping trend to anglicise us . |

If darts isnt a sport then snooker isnt either :|

Rte sports fans dont think snooker is a sport . Otherwise how could they leave Alex Higgins out of their Top 10 Irish sportsmen of all time ?

Any game that doesnt involve taking your pants off is not a sport.Under that banner comes darts, snooker, cricket etc.
