gold is summed up in ante post thread.soft ground or worse denman wins.better than soft then KS wins.purely goin on the two races yes WAF has backed up denmans win very impressively.still id be happy to stick with the proven KS all other things being equal.ie the ground.

brilliant in the king george but certainly the worst field for the race that i can remember. if you ignore last year when he clearly wasn't right denman is undefeated over fences on both good and soft ground. for him to be upsides kauto star last year at the second last after all his problems was remarkable. remember denman couldn't make the running last year because they knew he wasn't 100 per cent.

I have to finish this week with a word about Kauto Star, who was amazing in the King George. He could not have done it any better and the further we travelled the further he was going to win.
He jumped superbly, moved through the contest quite beautifully and it was simply a top-class display. The bottom line is, he beat proper Grade 1 performers a distance. People have asked if this was his best ever performance? My response is that it was one of them. But Kauto has produced so many magnificent efforts, over an honourable career, that you couldnt pick one over many others. R Walsh |

another way of looking at it is Denman would of beaten KS in the Hennessy but KS would of beaten him at Kempton, eer hard to split really.
Hope the two of em make GC day on ground that would be on the good side of soft, it be better than any champions league or World cup final. Two friends, call em two foes, titans of the game, fighting it out on the hill, neither giving a inch as they head for the line, aaaaaaaah! |

Did you know................. that Kicking Kings KG win (at Kempton) was faster than every one of Kauto Stars and over 3 secs quicker than on the most comparable ground, last year!
That season he was truly exceptional. |

the early pace set was brutal on the others
