What do people think of the tom coughlan , cork city debacle? Tom had a meeting yesterday whereby he was fined 5,000 + to refrain from all football related activity for 12 months. He is still the owner of cork city.
He was also told to consider his position. Tom can appeal this as the licence must be applied for soon for 2010.
Lots of people want tom gone. He hasnt paid wages to shop staff, the cork city site organiser, players + others numeous to mention
He still wants to stay at the helm, he has a bulldogs neck

Then apparently roddy collins manager of malta club floriana approaches tom and cork wanting the vacant managers job despite cork city being rightly up the manure and he being still under contract.

Who is the bigger chancer
Anyone reading the whole cork city story must laugh deliriously at the league of ireland

John delaney left tom and cork city waiting a hour for their meeting yesterday. Now john delaney is a pillock but even he has no time for tom. John doesnt like corkmen fullstop lol after roy having a go at him at every juncture.

It makes me very angry.

Not only is he destroying Cork City's credibility he is also doing serious damage to the whole league.

Fact, there will be people who won't be back in the Cross fora long time, even if Mr. Coughlan does the decent thing. Its almost 3 years now of this circus down in Cork and people just don't want to know anymore.

very true applehunter, i dont go to the cross but cork city and the LOI is very muddy right now.
Derry city didnt help matters either

a fool and his 800K are soon parted

the core of that team has been overpaid for years

the only way you'll pack Turners Cross is to be league contenders, the figures back me up
Report applehunter December 19, 2009 3:05 AM GMT
Do you actually beleive he put 800k of his money into the club.

Think about it?
Report Cupwinkcook December 19, 2009 8:34 AM GMT
wouldn't surprise me

look at the transfer fees that have come in over the years and they seem to go into a bottomless pit

the club could be losing 15K a week no bother, and if Coughlan was making up the deficit that would amount to 800K roughly

I heard he was paying back pay to the current players after the examinership and that amounted to shedloads

This guy (Coughlan) is like turning into a Robert Maxwell figure.

1. Has friends in political world
2. Has local media spouting his propaganda
3. Everything is injuntions, judical reviews, appeals

Meanwhile staff and players have not been paid what they are owed 4 days before Christmas.

I'm just numb at this stage.

What's he trying to prove?

Most fan groups have called for a boycott of all home matches if he remains in charge.

He's on record as saying he doesn't like soccer and was not a fan of Cork City so what is he after?

hello cailin seasonal greeting to you.
Well you want a league of ireland dont you not a local league in dublin.
The LOI need cork city to be competitive and vibrant along with limerick ,waterford, galway, sligo.
I cant understand this guywhom i have met lots of occasions in the past can continue to be in charge of people lives , stick 2 fingers to the revenue and still be in charge of a football club.
I understand FORAS are helping out hard preseed employees this christmas while the employer refuses to come clean.
I cannot understand a manager like roddy collins wanting to leave a contract and come to the club in its present state
Report CailiniDeas8 December 22, 2009 12:47 PM GMT
Same to yourself macrocky.

Hope matters are resolved so we can have a proper league but at present it is a laughing stock. Delaneys responsibility he should resign immediately imo.

The league to ireland is a joke. Its just go's from one** up to the next. How John Delaney is still in charge of the shambles that is the FAI is beyond me. Will never get any better with that muppet in charge. It will be some other club next year i'd expect bohs are the next ones to be in the pig **.
Report Giant Strides December 22, 2009 1:16 PM GMT
F**k off over to scouseland if you don`t like it then. And learn how to spell the thing properly while you`re over there too.
Report macrocky December 22, 2009 1:48 PM GMT
I find it laughable and ironic for delaney to call blatter a embarrassment haha. Delaney should look in the mirror he has presided over many a shambles

According to the radio this morning galway utd are in big trouble and may not make next season
Report Cupwinkcook December 22, 2009 7:57 PM GMT
roddy was back in Dublin these last few weeks

the malta league was suspended apparently

the impression I got was that when he first went out there he thought it was a medium term prospect but that positivity disapated quickly
Report anfeild December 22, 2009 10:10 PM GMT
How many times do clubs in the league of ireland be told to live within their means. Part time players is the only way. Gates cant support anything else really. Was a bohs fan for many years but just got fed up with the league.

I`d like to make a point and this is the perfect thread to do it on.
We are not a million light years away from an English Premier league club going belly up. Portsmouth are teethering on the brink and I`m quite certain there are others who cannot sustain the level of expenditure they are currently running. Will the LOI naysayers admit that this can happen anytime, anyplace, anywhere? Like Hell they will.
LOI clubs have done nothing that every man, woman and business didn`t do during our boom years. They borrowed and lost the run of themselves. But hey, so did 90% of our nation and they certainly aren`t the only ones paying for it now. The FAI, to give them credit where it`s due, are doing a far better job now regulating clubs finances than Neary and co did policing the banks, thats for sure.
Anybody noticed how well the team who knocked Bohs out of Europe have done since?
We were four mins from eliminating Red Bull Salzburg. They went on to win all six Europa League matches including wins home and away to Villareal and Lazio! Pats played out of their skins last year too. It`s about time the public took notice of these facts instead of constantly regurgitating biased media reports of ìts` downside.
Our league is better than most give it credit for, purely because they are not comparing like with like. We will forever live in the shadow of the footballing industry across the sea. Thats just the way it was, is , and always will be.
Our product is clearly unsustainable in its current guise but I know everyone at my club is adapting well to life after the "party".
#hit happens, as they say. It`s about how you deal with it. Rant over.
