3 bets for me today:
12.35 Rigour Back Bob should win this but no bet for me at the price. He won his bumper on soft and was 4th in a 2m Cork novice hurdle on good ground which is turning out to be a very hot race. It was won by Darceys Dancer who moved up to grade 2 company next time out while runner-up Teach Nua is well thought of. The 3rd and 5th both won next time out. Rigour Back Bob also won on his only subsequent start when landing a 2m Limerick maiden hurdle on heavy ground by 16 lengths. The softer ground suited him better and while it may not have been the strongest race however the 4th and 6th both finished 2nd on their next outing. Eddie OGradys horses are in top form, 3 wins and 5 places from 11 runners in the last 10 days. 1.05 Very hard to see Mourad getting beaten in this race. The only horses to have finished in front of him in Britain and Ireland over hurdles are Jumbo Rio, Ebadiyan, Zaynar, Walkon and Donnas Palm. There is nothing of that class in this race and the fact he is also getting weight off all his main rivals. Again should win but price is too short for me to be playing. 1.35 Fairymount Lord (each way)was a good 3rd in a 2m4f bumper at Lingfield in September, the form of which looks solid. He was 3rd on his hurdling debut in a 2m Tipp maiden hurdle on soft ground. He was beaten 14 lengths but the horses behind him have franked the form. The 4th has won a handicap hurdle since off 94 and the 5th has been placed on 3 of his next 4 starts in maiden hurdles. He travelled well for a long way in a 2m Down Royal maiden hurdle last time but lacked the finishing kick of the leaders. The form of the run looks good with the winner going down by just 2 lengths in a listed novice hurdle next time out. The 2nd was placed in a maiden hurdle next time. I think the step up to 2m6f will suit Fairymount Lord today and having only run twice over hurdles further improvement can be expected. The soft ground will not be a problem and looks a fair ew bet at 8/1 generally 2.05 Ella Watson for Charlie Swan whose horses have been running well, looks he pick in this handicap hurdle. She won her bumper on the Dundalk all-weather and put in her best run to date when 3rd in a 3m Clonmel handicap hurdle on soft ground. The form of that run has worked out very well. The 1st, West Ship Master, was placed on 2 of his next 3 starts off mark of 8lb and 11lb higher. The 2nd, Dannys Vic, won next time out off 4lbs higher while the 3rd, The Sneezer, was runner-up off a 3lb higher mark next time out. She is only up 3lbs for that run and looks capable of landing this handicap hurdle. 7/2 B365 is quite a disappointing price though 2.35 Our Gar (each way) might be worth chancing at a price for Prunella Dobbs whose 4 runners in the last 2 weeks have produced 2 wins and a second. Katie Walsh has ridden one of those winners and the second in two bumpers. She takes the ride on Our Gar today. Our Gar came on plenty for his first run of the season last year. He was well beaten in a Listowel maiden hurdle before grabbing second in a 2m Tramore bumper on soft ground in December. Our Gar was unfancied first time out this season when well beaten in a bumper over CD but he should come on for that run and might be worth an each way bet. The Meade runner Cottage Star is a half brother to couple of dual winners and is bred to enjoy conditions. 10/1 B-fred |
