4 for me today:

12.45 The Big Boyo (each way) put in by far his best run to date when 2nd to Quietly Fancied in a 2m2f Thurles maiden hurdle on soft ground last time out. He did look a bit ungenuine that day, swishing his tail and not quite delivering a much as he looked like he would at 2 out. However the form of the run looks very solid with the winner Quietly Fancied finishing runner-up in a grade 2 novice hurdle here at Navan next time out. The 6th won a handicap hurdle off 105 next time out while the 7th won a maiden hurdle on next outing. The 9th, Black Alpine, has finished runner-up on his two subsequent outings, both behind useful prospects.
Thegreatjohnbrownie landed a very big gamble in a bumper last time and could be a good bit better than these but he fell on his only previous start over hurdles and looks short to me. 6/1 Lads

1.55 City Of Doral (each way) for James Lambe whose horses have been running well, 2 winners and 2 placed from 9 in the last 2 weeks. City Of Doral was brought down in consecutive handicap hurdles before his last start when 3rd of 10 in a 2m4f Uttoxeter novice hurdle on soft. He ran very freely throughout the early part of the race which meant he was unable to go with the leaders when the pace was upped. In the end he was beaten 15 lengths but was 12 lengths clear of the 4th. The form of the run has been boost by the winner Chamirey finishing 2nd under a penalty next time out and the 2nd Predictive running out a fairly easy 7L winner yesterday. The 5th and 7th also franked the form by putting better performances next time out where they both finished 3rd. City Of Doral runs off a mark of 95 today, which means he gets in off a low weight of 10-1. If he manages to settle early on he can certainly be dangerous off this mark and the fact that Paddy Flood has been booked to ride is promising, especially if he gets down to 10-1. At 9/1 Lads/BS looks a good ew bet

2.25 Rather Curious (small each way) for John Berry whose horses are in good form, 3 winners so far in December. Rather Curious is a half brother to a 3 mile point to point winner Silver Lily who was placed in 3 of her 5 runs in bumpers. Could run well on debut at rewarding odds but only a speculative bet at 25/1PP.
West Of The Border has been off the track for 630 days but the form of his 3rd behind Uimhiraceathair and Academy Sir Harry looks strong but he may need the run.

3.30 Chiraaz (each way) for Jim Dreaper who this race last year and whose only runner in a chase in the last fortnight won with Andrew Lynch riding. Chiraaz has gained all 3 of his wins on heavy ground and hes been mixing it in much better company than this since he won a 2m6f Galway beginners chase in October08. He was a well beaten 3rd of 10 in the grade 2 Woodlands novice chase at Naas in Jan and he was 3rd of 4 behind Barker in a 2m1f novice chase here on his last run over fences in March. He was a given a spin over hurdles first time out this season, to blow away the cobwebs and he should be ready to go close today. He races off a mark of 123 and at his best he would be a real threat even under top weight today. 6/1 Lads/VC

A complete and total joke by Navan.

Did they just keep the public going so they could charge full price in to all that attended rather than reduce prices due to having a 5 race card?

Pathetic stuff all round.

Nice to see Christy Roche in the dock after years of conning punters at Irish racecourses. Another dozen of his fellow trainers might not be too far away from a ban/fine either. About time the stewards started to take action.

tote pay 1st 4 in al races 16 or more runners
By:

When: 19 Dec 09 22:41
that was the point I was making, sinndar

the bald result on sportinglife doesn't mention the 4th, but 4 place returns are made.
be nice if sportinglife gave the name of the 4th horse in brackets after the place return

on aertel it would confuse you the other way as the 4th horse would be mentioned but bookies wouldn't be paying out on him

No confusion if they were like Irish Racing.com. Best site for results lay out.

I walked the chase track and it was 50/50.

Tony O'Hehir said early on it was 40/60 at best to be on. That never swayed. Eddie O'Leary said the same as did most others I believe.

I feel sorry for lads like David Casey and Tom Doyle who arrived just before the bumper only to be told that the chases were scrapped.

It was amazing in the bumper to be able lay Nina relatively short despite he being in trouble from before the turn in. I know there is a slight advantage being at the track but that is negated by being only able to use the mobil phone.

Is it true that you do not get your entry refunded for the last two races?

Yet if you had not travelled based on the scant information that was provided by the racecourse, that you would have been fined?

The chases should have been abandoned at 11:00 at the latest and no communication from the racecourse to owners / trainers from 12:00 onwards was disgraceful.
