Race 1) Jumbajukiba. Joe O'Flaherty could have a smart timber performer if this top class flat recruit can jump. Being a winner over the minimum trip this season certainly does not guarantee that he will stay the trip.

Race 2) Morning Supreme. This ought to be little more than a school for the Willie Mullins stable. 5th in the Cheltenham bumper, this one doddled in, in a weak maiden hurdle just over a month ago.

Race 3) Fiery Oscar. This admirably consistent 4 year old can strike for the small Cork outfit Sweeney family under the consistant Colman. A game 4th to Nan's Best at Gowran 3 weeks ago.

Race 4) Ikidunot. Another small trainer Maureen Danagher can have the solution here. This one ran into a Mullins hotpot Quadrillion in Mallow LTO trading at odds on IR for a time. There is nothing of that calibre here.

Race 5) Instinctive (Nap). This one can complete a double here having come out of the fog all alone at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago having been well backed too. Davy Russell is in majestic form.

Race 6) Perfectly Composed (NB) No need to look furthur than the all powerful Team Mullins to win this on her seasonal debut. She ran into a smart sort Asigh Pearl on the closing day of 2008 having traded at 3's on IR. Nina on the Charlie Swan mare Lonesome Dove would need the Swan yard to come back into a bit of form to threaten.

Norn, I seen that. But I didn't spot it before I picked mine out.

BJG, Free entry it is, but the €31k from ATR is way more enticing to the track for having this sticky in meeting!!

I doubt if Jumbajukiba will even go off fav in the first. Diophas ran really well over fences last time because he generally jumped cautiously so back over hurdles I expect him to win the first, 3s would be a gift.

Mine for today:

1.15 Jumbajukiba is a group 3 winner on the flat and is best suited by very testing ground. Jessica Harrington appears to have found a fairly easy maiden hurdle for his hurdling debut at Cork today. Hes won a listed race here on the flat and was runner-up in a 1m Listed contest here on his last start. He will be well suited the heavy ground and should be hard to beat. 9/4PP

1.45 Grancore Girl (each way) showed plenty in bumpers in the 07-08 season winning two and finishing 2nd in the other. She showed promise on her hurdling debut but poor jumping let her down and she wasnt given a hard time once her chance had gone. This is her first run for 388 days so she may need it but she is a full sister to Black Harry and Raise You Five were both dual hurdles winners on soft or heavy. She may need further in time but could be the main threat to the Mullins favourite Morning Supreme who will go off at short odds. 12/1 VC

2.15 Soleil Levant for the in form Henry De Bromhead yard would have been the but the price is way too short at 3/1. She shaped well on her first run of the season when 4th in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle on heavy last time out. She will be sharper for that run and looks capable of winning off current mark of 86.
At the prices Double Kudos (each way) 7/1 looks a better bet to me. Based on the form of his 2nd two runs ago he would go very close in this. He was never put in the race last time and form of that 6th has been franked by 1st and 5th winning since. 6/1 VC/Hills

2.45 The Book Thief (each way) won a 2m4f point to point on heavy on his first run in April 08. He ran well on his seasonal debut last season when runner-up to the useful Quinola Des Obeaux in a 2m Punchestown bumper on heavy. He won his bumper by 14 lengths over 2 miles at Kilbeggan on his final start of last season on yielding to soft ground. He is a half brother to Casta Cada who has won two hurdles races over trips in excess of 3 miles. Todays 2m3f trip on heavy ground should suit The Book Thief who we know goes well fresh. If he has schooled well over hurdles he should go close in this.

3.15 Rio Alto (each way) won her maiden hurdle over 2 miles at Tipperary on yielding ground. She disappointed on her first run in a handicap when well beaten in a Listowel handicap hurdle on yielding to soft on her next outing.
She bounced back to something like her best when 6th in a 2m Punchestown handicap hurdle off a mark of 100. The form of that run has worked out really well. The 1st and 4th finished 1st and 2nd off higher marks next time out while the 2nd and 5th also both won next time out and the 3rd ran well for a long way in the grade 1 Royal Bond before falling.
Rio Alto has been dropped 1lb from her last run and with Ruby Walsh on board she looks to hold serious claims in this 2m3f handicap hurdle on heavy ground. 8/1 SJ looks good value and expect that the Ruby backers will probably send this one off more like 5s.
Dolly Hall is the obvious danger as has been in good form of late.

3.45 Special Token (each way) won a 3m point to point on soft ground before finishing placed in two bumpers over todays CD in his two bumper starts. She slipped up when still travelling fine after 4 out in a Thurles maiden hurdle on her first start of this season. Back in a bumper here at Cork she looks a solid each way bet. 4/1 generally

some shocking rides at cork today

It was apparent at a early stage the rails is not the place to be and colman sweeney on fiery oscar and lenny flynn rode ikidunot at a major disadvantage to stay on the rails all the way up the straight.
Paul towend is a non aggressive rider and he managed to throw the 3.15 away on dolly hall, allowing himself to get squeezed out more than once and once again flying home too late

I was thinking after the bumper what if nina was willies no.2 she would be riding some winners, she is stylish, strong and very aggressive when she wants to be. She has proved herself at cheltenham imo i have absolutely no qualms about backing nina wheras townend, you know he is a horseman but will he move on when he should , maybe not.
