Yeah i noticed the money matched that night and knew it was one to watch the next day.
In fairness it only takes one greedy clown only worried about getting his couple of hundred matched and the price is ruined.

the annoying thing is whoever it was got about 80quid averaging 12s - we'd have bet him a 12 hundred to one to keep his mouth shut....ten years ago you'd have been getting 16/1 on the show and be able to get on...

Frankly redbait I knew exactly what he meant but I wanted clarification directly from the horses mouth. Whales as I'm sure you know are becoming extinct to a certain extent and thats one primary reason that the on course market here has collapsed in the last 2 years. Clearly bookies are reliant on whales to keep their operations going as such and once the whale disappears the bokmaker dies at least those with little business acumen.

Regarding getting on what else are you supposed to do? Every one knows how difficult it is to get on so you use whatever weapons you have in your armourary. I am of course talking from a personal perspective and these views aren't the views of the firm I used to work for.

observerirl, it's a business after all. It's dog eat dog out there. The shark punters are happy to relieve the chains a few bob any way they can. So I suppose the compulsive ones have to be relieved if they are foolish enough to pat with their few bob.

The whole episode at Fairyhouse on Saturday left a very sour note. Hopefully lessons will be learned all round.

Unfortuneately the word got round to the bookies early that this one was beating Sublimity on the gallops, winning schooling bumpers with aplomb etc etc. Whether this was true or not, the bookies cards were well marked and no fancy prices materialised.
