Good to see him start and score today. Supposed to be a cracker. Dunphy and Giles writing him off before he's even started get a run in the team.

Dunphy and giles wrote off O'Shea and Fletcher in the past. They need to be ignored. They only seem to watch United matches and still they can't even give a decent analysis of them.

Stolen from northern ireland.......common practice for F.A.I to tap up any player once they have determined which part of the north they come from.
We develop them......you steal them, well done.

People should know what goes on,they watch progress of every promising player they know is from a nationalist background, then make approach.Has benn going on from years ago,Chris Baird played in 2003 cup final for saints, and because he hadnt played for senior north team, was phoned in saints hotel after final to ask to declare for south.Gibson different because he fell out with north when not released for united youth game, but happens all the time.

As long as the IFA continue to force players to stand for god save the queen before matches in a ground full of union jacks, plenty more will drift south too. Welsh and Scottish players wouldn't have it.

...and the fans have a history of booing the catholic players too....

I go to every home match at Windsor with my young son,and my nephew, who is a roman catholic(not that i give a s**t what anyone is)and i would not bring them if any sectarianism was remotely evident.Sammy Clingan, who is undoubtedly one of the most popular players playing for us at the moment, blesses himself in the centre circle before start of every game, and not one dissenting voice is heard,so dont play cheap sectarian card nowadays.

Correct. Look at the reception Arthur Boric got recently because of his Celtic connection for example.

Boruc had nightmare and got no more stick than any other keeper would have got in same situation.....of course no sectarian bile came from terraces of Lansdowne the night Neil McCann (then of Rangers and also a catholic)played for Scotland.Once again has to play cheap sectarian card.

Neil Lennon knows a lot more than any of us about the in and outs of northern soccer and he commented after the Boruc/Poland game that very little had changed since he was forced out of playing for his country.

The booing at Landsowne Rd. is by some brainless idiots in in the crowd, sectarianism in NI soccer is embedded at every level right to the very top, there's no comparison.

Lennon doesnt know what he means half the time,he also states in interviews how much he commends the crowd nowadays at Windsor,it was unforgivable what happened to him,but the Lennon issue is completely of no interest to me anymore,it was seven years ago now.

Daradasi if you dont go to Windsor for matches or even live up here, then please dont make statements like that.

I'm not talking about 7 years ago we're talking a few months ago. Any neutral observers who commented on the Poland game (mostly British media) called the athmosphere that day "hateful and spiteful".

atmosphere wasn't good at Croker either

I put that down to the Poles to be honest

I wasnt responsible for starting sectarian slanging match.....I simply stated facts about our players being as good as stolen....it was developed into said match because the truth hurts.

never met a catholic from the north who would support NI over R of I
presumably same for young players

the Italia 90 & USA 94 obviously are an influence for these lads
e.g.James McCarthy in scotland

Kabcast - its a simple as this. The likes of Gibson, McGeady, James McCarthy and many more before them feel much more comfortable playing for the Republic of Ireland rather than Northern Ireland or Scotland. We can debate the various reasons for this but they wont be the last from either jurisdication to feel more welcomed playing in Dublin. I look forward to many more talented individuals from the six counties pulling on the green jersey and gracing Croke Park and/or the new Aviva Stadium.
