FFS! Keane & manager should not go in the same sentence together, never mind the National job! Id rather have that eloquent speaker Steve Staunton back!

keane is your typical dry drunk. After having a grand old time while drinking he now has to punish anybdy ( including himself ) who shows the slightest weakness in his eyes .His inner rage is caused by knowing if he lets go of his tightly wound core he will go to pieces .The other well known dry drunk of recent years was George W Bush so I suppose we should all be thankful that Keane cant get his hands on an army. A couple of nice quiet pints and Im sure the two of them would be grand company.

I think in Saipan Given sided with McCarthy. Thats why he thinks Given was at fault for the goal.
He talks about " Lets move on". All he is doing is raking up 2002 all over again.
Down, we (Man City) need to start getting results again starting tomorrow against Liverpool.
That Adabeyor and Barry need to start to justify their mega wages.

Am I the only one who thinks that Mr. Roy Keane -over-rated player , failed manager and permanently damaged bitterman -is becoming just a tad boring and monumentally irrelevant to anything ?

If he invested as much time in putting his energies into his own side they might be able to defend and get themselves out of trouble. He'll be on the managerial scrapheap soon enough and the bottle will be his only friend. Despicable, bitter and hypocritical human being.

Somebody somewhere must have rated him extremely high for him to be regarded as over-rated . He was truly world class in that department. Everything else is up for debate.

To be fair to Keane, it's not like he went out of his way to discuss this issue, not that he was reticent once he got going. As for him being irrelevant - undoubtedly the best player we produced since Brady - Keane dragged us to that 2002 World Cup virtually on his own remember - I think his observations are still worth hearing. Furthermore, people might get bored hearing Keane criticising the FAI but its only boring because Kene continues to be correct - Delaney and Co make Fianna Fail look competent! World Class Manager - Steve Staunton??? Look at the current Aviva ticket fiasco where the FAI are pressurising hard-pressed schoolboy clubs to shell out for outrageously over-priced tickets because their sales strategy has been a disaster. The League of Ireland? A shambles, U-21 team? An embarrassment. Keane was right about them in 2002 and as far as I can see nothing has changed. Also, Keane's criticism's of the team are valid. France were there for the taking the other night and we didnt take them. Keane was a winner with a winner's instinct. he could see that we could actually compete for the World Cup in 2002 (easily the worst World Cup that I've seen) but nobody, certainly not the FAI could see it. The fact of the matter is that we should have scored a second goal the other night and we didnt and to blame everything on Henry is to ignore the fact that we should have been home and hosed by then. Thats the reality and Keane isn't afraid to call it. Whatever else he might be accused of Keane will not gloss over percevied weaknesses or failings and perhaps if we all had a bit more of his honesty we would all be better placed to face up to the realities that exist rather than pretending that things are outside our control or that we've been unlucky or that poor old Paddy is getting the sh!tty end of the stick again. We score the 2nd goal, we seize the day and the glory is ours. We don't and somehow it's everyone else's fault but our own.

Great player but t0sser of the first order, dont how anyone can give any regard to his words. What right does a man who gets thrown out/walks out of the World Cup have to comment on this campaign. Anyway you'll all be able to get behind England now :)

I think Delaney is a master bluffer and diplomat. But that does not make Roy Keane's opinions valid. If Keane got into the Irish job he would detonate the place, and not in a good way. Two Irish managers relegated in the English leagues in one season ..... that will be a nice trivia question.
We have a top quality manager. Good health Giovanni.

I'm out of a job because we are going down. The FAI appointed a useless manager once so I have the qualification. Giovanni Trapattoni has not qualified for the World Cup. I'll point that out. I'll stir it up a bit.

What on earth makes people think that Keane would ever want the Irish job??? He despises the FAI - there is no evidence that they will ever get their act together- why the hell would he ever want to work for them?

Keane is becoming a bit of a joke figure, he's played this tough guy act so long he has to keep going with it.
He's also been exposed as an extremely average manager. Used to like the bloke, just think he's a co(c)k now.

FFS we played the two teams who were in the last world cup final. Won once drew twice and lost to a deflected goal. Would some of ye clowns have predicted this a year ago. Roy Keane should shut his mouth and do his day job.His opinions on Ireland are always going to be blinkered, but am disgusted with his cheap shot at Shay Given. Shay got his 102nd cap for Ireland last Wednesday and epitomises everything that is good about a soccer professional(Keane take note). We gave it a great shot and should be proud of the lads. Also isnt it great that we got through a week without mentioning Stephen bloody Ireland or Andy Reid. Trap does it his way and nearly got us the whole way.

He spent too much time with Clough, he was the exact same, would say the exact opposite from everybody itself, although it appeared Clough had thought the thing through and was doing it deliberately to annoy people. It seems to come more naturally to Roy,agreed tremendous entertainment.

Cully that you fail to understand the difference Andy Reid would have made on Wednesday says plenty.
It was made for him but our overpaid leader didnt like his tunes.

Regardless of your feeling's about him, Everything he said was a 100% spot on.
This replay stuff is so embarassing. It's sport, we lost, now lets move on and concentrate on the positives which were a super performance and to build for the future.

Roy Keane was a very good combative player . Nowhere near what Alex Ferguson claimed "the best Man U player ever "--cloud cuckoo land .
Thats unfortunately the end of the message . Niot much else worthwhile can be added to my initial observation/ sentence . Reckon we should ignore him until he is worthy of some constructive coomment .

although ive always seen mcshane as an accident waiting to happen ,i felt sorry for him the other night.he didnt attack the ball because it was going wide, henri couldnt keep it in without handling.if keane doesnt understand this it might explain why his team have conceded 17 in 8 away games this season.the defending was ok the refereeing wasnt.keane is becoming the jedward of the football world...a figure of fun ...not to be taken too seriously...a national embarressment.

There's a certain amount of truth in what Keane says, but he's only saying it because he's a classless, undignified cnut. It isn't the first time he's had a go at Given. Remember that stuff about Given playing too many times for Ireland ? He makes those comments purely out of spite.

If we're going to blame anyone for the handball incident, I think we should blame FIFA. Henry just reacted instinctively and infringed the rules. It happens all the time. The game is being played at 100m an hour, the adrenalin is flowing, a ball is about to beat you and you react. The ref and linesmen made a mistake. Nothing unusual there. The reason it turned into something which mattered is that FIFA continue to refuse to introduce a video ref.

Don't find Roy's comments accurate. It's just more bitter, disjointed logic from a disgruntled malcontent. As someone pointed out he was admonishing the Irish players/management/FAI for not moving on & to get over it. Then he brings up an incident from 2002. He complains that John Delaney didn't ring him. Is he too stupid to ring John Delaney himself or too mean that he only has a phone that receives calls? He says McShane should have cleared it. If someone smacks him in the face in the street would he say he should've ducked. He doesn't like Given because Shay wouldn't go in goal for the 5-a-side in Saipan & he turns up too often for international matches. If Shay had Roy's laissez-faire attitude to international matches perhaps Roy would have no problem with him.
As for this tiresome 'enfant terrible' speaking his mind nonsense, that's just rubbish. He was a physical coward who bullied the weak & young & he towed the official party line of the most offensive organistion in world football for years. He dived to win penalties just like any other chat & he was sent off for diving, but that doesn't set him apart for any other footballer. He's just being contrary as all Cork people are inherently contrary individuals. (I know-I'm married to one & my 3 children are half Cork) Already my oldest (4years) is just like Roy Keane. She just wants everyone to make a fuss of her & throws a tantrum when they don't. The middle fella will be a Cork hurler. He kicks & bawls when he doesn't get what he wants. The youngest is alright so far but she is only 6mths.

jesus some blinkered views here! some read though...
look, whether it was Keane said it or not (and to be fair he was a bit bitter about it all) what was said was for the most part truthful.
there are so many ifs and buts and people now just want to concentrate on the 1 incident.
on the incident itself, i wouldn't blame Given. he is too small (not intending to be offensive, just honest) to come out and claim a free kick like that when there are 5/6 6ft+ players going for it.
mcshane switched off, as usual, when he should have headed it clear. the ball should not have bounced in the box at all, let alone the 6yard box. yes, turry hunry handled it, which he obviously shouldn't have done so people just found it easier to blame him.
first of all, this game should not have gone to extra time. duff, doyle and keane all missed glorious chances. why not blame them instead of henry or to a lesser scale mcshane?
lets go back further, we could blame Trapp for the style of play in the home leg or indeed some of the chances we missed in the home leg.
or further again??? probably should have drawn or maybe lost to georgia. should have beaten a 10 man italy. etc etc
there were lucky and unlucky times during the groups and on the night in paris luck was not on their side.
i must admit, my first reaction is what the hell was the assistant ref looking at? but within minutes i was saying, how did the ball even get to henry? before extra time started i told my wife (not sure if she actually listened or just did her usual nodding and agreeing) that they were going to regret the chances and that this game should have been finished. i was unfortunately right.
theres no point in harping on about it now anyway, would not want a replay because if ireland got to the world cup by winning a replay or a playoff then that would also be tarnished. so many teams were robbed in the past and unfortunately this wont be the last time either

Hey Trent Reznor how can you make a judgement on Cork people because you have 3 kids from a Cork woman. What a load of trash and it isnt the first time i have stumbled on this kind of stuff from you.Not everything that Keane says is accurate or logical but one thing he is right about and that is IRELAND DONT KNOW HOW TO WIN

Im a Galway man myself never been married but cest la vie.Certainly not going to make up an identity to suit my circumstances.Does being married with 3 half kids from Cork make what you say more authentic or give you more of a standing on the forum.I went out with the Galway Rose for a few nights by the way,she packed me in because of my unfeasibly large tackle.Thats the way things go,sometimes size does matter even when its too big.

yes that bastion of success matt le tissier :^0 The guy so driven by success he admitted partaking in a betting scam They guy is a byword for being a loser.
Makes me laugh those who say hes a failure as a manager. Got sunderland from 5 defeats in a row into the premiership and kept them up. Any other manager and that would be seen as success. Poor start with Ipswich, but seems to be turning a corner now with 6 matches unbeaten.
Delaney is a joke, only in the job because "Daddy" had influence. The LOI is a laughing stock, and Delaney instead pays the international manager 2 million a year to open supermarkets and turn up 1 every 2 months for an international. Employs Don Givens despite 10 years of abysmal failure.
If people look past the rant, what he says is spot on. Same old Ireland, same old excuses. zzzzzzz..... Having to listen to the likes of Kilbane blaming the ref is truly boring and tiresome. The ref was superb apart from the main incident. Its sad that nothing will happen Henry, yet the ref will probably be made to pay with his world cup place. Maybe kilbane is happy with that.....
Typical football though, everyone to blame except the actual person who commits the offence....

Diamond Joe, That's what was so infuriating about it. The ref's representative (Jeff Winter) blamed the player (I think he was right) The players (ie all the Irish squad, former players & the PFA president) all blamed the ref. Henry blamed the ref. Roy blamed the Irish keeper, McShane & the FAI. It should be noted that Roy had the defender in question under his tutelage for over a year at Sunderland & didn't improve his defending. The FAI blamed FIFA, FFF & Domenech.
Anyway, I'm off to sue a woman over a field. I might get a million pounds.
