All that is wrong with modern football - blaming the ref instead of Henry.

The ref had a very good game last night imo, but didnt see the handball or the offside for the goal that took France to SA. His linesman should have seen the offside at least. But to say it is not up to Henry to call a decision is wrong and is what makes refereeing in the modern game such a tough task.

(a) Henry should not have done what he did (b) He should have admitted straight after what he did and not celebrated a robbery - he could have done what Robbie Fowler did for Liverpool at Highbury when he fell over Seaman and the ref gave a pen. Then the ref would have had the facts and maybe changed his mind, unlike at Arsenal. But then we could blame the ref.

To not at all question the behaviour of Henry and instead say the ref should have spotted it is missing the point all together and lets Henry off with blatent **ing. The Irish team should have came out and said Henry is a **, he should be banned etc etc, instead of saying the officials should have seen it.

Fifa are the wrong doers here, not Henry and not the referee...

they're all to ** blame, its a stitch up. first they seed the groups, then they seed the play offs when group seeds don;t win the group, then they stitch up a blatant decision and say nothing about it. its a ** scadal and im not aman to get animated about these things

Because they all bend/break the rules from time-to-time!

They're not leaving themselves open to comebacks about past, or even future rule beaks if the blame Henry.

Hopefully we see major rule changes regarding video technology, esp considering how much money is in soccer!

Everyone is saying - Do what Fowler did?

Fair dues to him for shaking his head a bit but he did get up, take the ball and bury the penalty? How very honourable.

In the circumstances, are you saying that you have held your hands up, run to the referee and refuse to play on if the goal stood? And please don't tell me that handling the ball in the first place makes him wrong, as every professional player who ever played the game has handled the ball at stage of their careers. It's up to the ref to ref the game. He didn't see it. That happens. Fifa are wrong because at international level at least the ref should have the option to go to the 4th official for a 2nd look. They are the people who have robbed us.

*tried to bury

**ing #### is what he is.

The referee was incompetent. Las Diarra not getting at least a yellow was beyond me.

How Anelka didnt get booked for his elbow on St Ledger is again beyond me. At least Evra only elbowed his own player. French went out to cut up rough and succeeded in not getting even 1 yellow card. I repeat the referee was incompetent.

We have been **ed again in Europe -I thought it was a thing of the past. Far from it.

Sick.

KK05, you are missing the point totally.

At least Fowler got up and told the ref what happened and let the ref make a more informed decision. He was wrong to proceed to give Liverpool (and I support them) a pen. Not to mention Fowler missed the pen, not bury it, with probably his worst spot kick in his career.

If Henry had done the same last night and told the ref, and the ref had still give the goal, then we could all blame the ref like the Irish team and not blame Henry.

Thats the point.

France got 3 yellows.

Not amongst the team that went out. Maybe amongst the subs?

COK - As a Liverpool fan the 2001 FA Cup Final win against Arsenal must feel like a very hollow victory for you so.

Henchoz handled the ball on the line from, ironically, an Henry shot and instead of running to the ref to tell him what he did, as it seems you would expect, actually admitted after the game that he not only handled the ball but he would do the same again next time.

You must have felt so let down????

A Diarra and two of the subs.

Lets hope we don't moan about it for the next twenty years like the English and Maradonna.

The Irish team did us proud last night. One of the best displays from an Irish team in years. Given their ability they outperformed fantastically. Absolutely gutted we're not going and disappointing
but its only sport.

Lets lose with dignity. And hammer the french **s the next time we play them.
