Good card.

12.55 Capspeed should be too good for these, bit short for my liking though.

2.00 Very good hcap hurdle. Looks to be money for Scholars again this morning, both he and Takestan looked to have more up thier sleeves lto. Prefer Scholars of the pair. At a big price i like Sole Bone Femme ew, onlt 1lbs higher than last year, when winning this.

2.30 Notre Pere win. Casy Jones ew.

3.00 Tough race, trip a bit short for Siegemaster, but is fit and will like the going. Not sure about Herecomesthetruth tbh. Forpady is a tentative selection.

GL.

Mine for today:

12.55 Coole River for Jessie Harrington whose record in this race is 2 wins and 6 seconds from 11. She has saddled such horses as Irish Champion Hurdle winner Macs Joy, Spirit Leader (county hdl, Tote Gold Trophy)and Gazzas Girl (won a grade 3 and placed in grade 1) in this race. Coole River won his bumper over 2 miles at Naas on soft and then with plenty of credit in competitive affairs at the Fairyhouse and Punchestown Festivals. At the prices I think he represents better value than Cadspeed. 7/2 PP

2.00 Fen Game (each way) won his maiden hurdle in October 2007 over 2 miles and he made a good start to last season when 3rd in a 2m Punchestown handicap hurdle on soft to heavy off a mark of 114, after a lay-off of 3 months. He was sent off second favourite for the Pierse Hurdle at Leopardstown in January and finished a creditable 6th of 29 despite finding a fair bit of trouble in running. He was only beaten 2 lengths, racing off a mark of 114.
He got absolutely no luck at all on his last start in another 2m Leopardstown handicap hurdle on soft when never seeing daylight in the home straight before getting absolutely crunched in the final 50 yards, so much so that his jockey had to pull him right back. He finished 8th of 16 but was only beaten 2¾ lengths and may have won with a clearer run. He ran off 119 that day, the same mark he runs off today.
His best runs have all come on ground with ease in it and I think hes well worth an each way bet today with the OGrady yard in fine fettle. 12/1 generally.

2.30 My Will (each way) goes well fresh, proved that when he won a 3m4f Cheltenham grade 3 handicap chase first time out in the 06-07 season. He didnt run badly first time out last season either when 5th in the Hennessy after a layoff of a year and a half.
Record on good to soft or softer is 7 wins and 10 places from 21 runs and the 4 times hes been unplaced on softer than good has been twice in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, once in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and once in the Hennessy.
Notre Pere does look a good prospect and on form is the one to beat but in the three seasons hes been racing he has yet to win on seasonal debut and at short odds can be taken on with an each way bet on My Will at 6/1 PP/WH.

3.30 Jack Finch (each way) for the in-form Eddie OGrady yard can go close in this. He won back to back handicap chases at Kilbeggan on very soft ground before disappointing in a 3m handicap chase at Listowel 3 days later. Hes shown his best form on right handed tracks and he may not have been suited by Listowel last time and also he may have felt the effect of the run 3 days previous on testing ground. Freshened up now he looks capable of going close off 109, which is still 3lbs lower than his hurdling mark. 6/1 PP

Agree re My Will but with hindsight think Trotsky may be NR leaving just 2 places. Hope not.

LUMBERG CANT SEE DREAPER NOT HAVN NOTRE FIT FOR 80GRAND RACE

I just think some horses need a racecourse run to fine tune them and Notre Pere started last season in the 2m4f graded chase on this card and was beaten 25 lengths. He looks the best horse in the field and I wouldn't argue with people who fancy him but at 5/4 I'm happy to look elsewhere

Carrigmartin my nap. Don't think Cabspeed will love this track over 2m.
Report Allduckornodinner November 7, 2009 11:07 AM GMT
Cant see Carraigmartin winning at all. Scavenger probably win but he is a joke price.

Anybody know how fit Notre Pere is? Walloped on this card last year and never won first time out. I thought he would win but definite second thoughts now at that price.
