M J P O'Brien has become such a rubbish trainer imo. Surely the horse can only improve.
I well remember the days when he started training. Himself and Rusty Carrier supplied a fancied bumper runner most saturday's during the winter season, many of which won. Bright highway the best of them. |

He has had a couple of below par seasons and he's suddenly a "rubbish" trainer?
He has lost the support of his developer owner for whom he enjoyed far more success than any other of his trainers. How about someone puts you in a wheelchair and see how successful you would be in any walk of life, let alone training horses? |

followed this horse 'over a cliff' last couple of years.......no more im afraid..looks to have alot of problems to me

Will do Workrider.
I was only stating the obvious. Denis Cullen I believe is doing a lot of the workload now. He was never slow to change jockeys unless they were related. Barry Geraghty, Davy Russell got short shrift |

sorry to hear any further health complications for M O'Brien but agree with Soapp that in recent years his training ability has raised eyebrows with me too.... He has had decent animals pass through his hands such as DeValira in recent years (rem Ruby was booked to ride him in the champion hurdle after a flood of money) but seemed to train them into the ground....
Is In Compliance still owned by Mulryan? |
|
By:
Still with Mulryan.
Dessie's handling of Schinder's Hunt was one of the high lights of last season for me. To get a horse to peak at 9 is some effort. Could do similar with a fit In Compliance! Fantastic trainer and a gent. |

M J P O'Brien retires shortly.
Denis Cullen takes over the licence. Wish him well for the future. And his health improves if he 's not well. |
|
By:
thought he retired ages ages ago myself
|
|
By:
was Essex his last ever runner? or just his last over fences?
|
|
By:
I hope he enjoys his retirement and that he is not suffering with his health. The man has been an absolutely brilliant trainer for many years.
|
|
By:
thegalwayman, he was a great trainer. Going back a few years one would always look out for his bumper runners. They would always be well fancied. Latterly though he has been a shadow of his former self. Maybe this was due to his health. Denis Cullen has been in situ for many years now.
I think once Tom Rudd left, the stable went into decline. Tom was always in the background schooling etc. I know he could have been a little better in the saddle. But listen, he won many a big race for M J P O'Brien, Irish National, Galway Plate to name a few. |

He was atr this morning, sounded great, but when asked about the health you could tell its not looking good. Said he got bad news from the doctors earlier this week.
Wish him all the best. |
