In modern times 83 and 2010 were the best to have won the race ,todays looks an absolute cracker ,

Elisjohn I also preferred it when it was on a Friday maybe we’re just two old fa.ts

One of my favourite 2 year old races and whilst i'm Frankels number 1 fan (jointly with Jimnast Wink) it wasn't his most impressive win. Going back in time Wollow and Zafonic were surperb, both went on to win the 2000 Guineas. Quite a few others have also done the double and maybe Desert Castle will join that elite group.

In terms of the conversation about older vs modern racing and our experiences - I think what really makes the difference is the amount of betting we will all have done since those 'earlier' days in our racing memories. Being 18 and betting it was all fairly new, rather different now.

Plus, these are just the 'top class' memories we see - they do get the pulse racing, Zafonic and Frankel etc, but we probably forgot about sitting in bookies watching the sellers from Catterick running! Laugh
