WTF was doing there. That horse should've won easily..... I still yet to be convinced he is top tier. There is a lot of hype surrounding him but he is inconsistent at best.

That was bad and by far the best horse.
It looked like it was checked coming around the final bend but too
far back regardless

Maybe thats as good as his horse is?
Did you watch its last run?

Cloone river... Did you watch the race. He was asleep at the wheel, got too far back, got checked and then had 20L to make up in the last two furlongs. Made up about 17 to finish a close third. Terrible ride.

Awful ride any decent jockey would have won on it
And luckily I did not bet on it
I know he his young but very over rated

Looked like the horse in front of him stopped quickly and forced Billy back.
Not sure you can blame the rider for that.

I'm with Newmarket on this one...
Yet to be convinced he's top class
Has some great rides, then gets beat on ones he shouldn't
Had one earlier where didn't push out for 2nd and got done. That's always bugged me over the years, a lot of the top jockeys don't ride out for a place if they can't win...
Dettori, Eddery, Carson all guilty

travelling well most of way..then badly hmp 3f out..chance gone..was it his fault like?

OK wazza?
Had no money on the race so view not clouded by financial...
People see races unfold differently, otherwise there'd be no in running betting

isn't he the one being paid to 'steer' it? So who else?

cant see what happened..but imo he's as good as anyone.

One of the pacemakers came back towards him, he switched one off the rail. The horse in front on the outside cut in, left him no room, he had to snatch up, lost momentum and places, switched wide and finished well.
I'm not sure he did that much wrong, maybe moved out earlier but imo he had decent pitch.

One of the pacemakers dropped back in his lap, he switched one off the rail coming into the bend. The horse on the outside in front of him cut in, that caused him to snatch up, losing momentum, many lengths and positions. Eventually he got out wide and finished well. He was in an okay position for the majority of the race. Would he want it back yes off course he would  was it a really terrible ride, imo no.

blimey must be the worst era of jocks ever if this lad is as good as anyone

Looked very unlucky to me.....Billy had plenty of time to get a pitch on the outside to ensure a clear run but continued up the inner....a combination of jockey error and pure bad luck with the amount of congestion he encountered.

Another young kid will probably come along shortly most likely connected to trainer or rider,Jack Callan will probably get snapped up…media get all excited…

I was amazed he actually persevered and got the place, Placepot players should be grateful. Even more stark watching the replay, the severity of the interference, plenty would have just eased off , not a jockey alive or dead would have won in the same saddle and circumstances.

As a general rule, any post by Newmarket Sausage should be viewed with suspicion.
This was no different.
The moron couldn't read Janet and John let alone a race.
Stu,you can only steer the one you are riding not the others

I always take the opinion of David Elsworth tbh…..90 % horse,he liked to applaud the staff back home….

Walter Swinburn was another….we are mostly passengers on good horses…

Young Saffie most recently….the judging all takes place be before the furlong pole, knowing how fast they are going….

Horse snatched up no room unlucky, been happening since day one….

Luck in running…..bla…

I still can not see where he did anything wrong.

He got squeezed up and had to take his horse back.

Stu,I think that you are getting confused here.
The O/P stated it was an awful ride but it wasn't.
It didn't go his way but nobody stated that it was a good ride.
Stop digging
By:

When: 30 Sep 26 16:23
Didn't go his way, what you on about - several others posted here agreeing jockey issues, just a couple who didn't.

Several posters always concern themselves only with defending any jockey ride on here, so I think it is they that are unduly concerned and dig constantly on here.

There was already a correctly balanced view above by Dancing, to include both some jockey blame and some luck. That is most correct IMO.

Sports people will always be called out tbf…..just look at football the players get hammered week in week out…..with personal stuff also…

Supporters DNA…..especially when the hard earned is down…..

Horse racing has the stigma for obvious reasons….
