It had over 21% of the pool. Hardly a huge discrepancy for a 5/1 shot.

NOVICE CHASE

Outsider of 4 Wins at (just) 5/1

Th Winner- Being a 3 x times Course & Distance Winner - and in CHASES

2 of the other runers making their CHASE DEBUTs - with one of them Pulled UP and Fell on last 2 outings

Other runner ran in 6 Chases previously, winning it's latest one, but, when wearing First-time Blinkers

At the OFF - The other 3 runners were all 9/4.

.... Are you sure that this game is for you - simplesi ?

Again the 5th leg how does the winner 7/2 have more units than the 13/8 fav? it always seems the same when its a win only leg that they spread the units evenly its just my opinion i know all you pros have the game sussed.

More folk covering the field hoping for an outsider, as regards prices they do change from the time of the first leg.

What 'Prices' are you referring to >

In the meantime - You would be happy if you had got it up ...

.... SP, Simples was saying about a 13/8 fav, the horse could have been 3/1 in the morning.

I do agree the tote is fixed at certain times. But not in this situation.

100,000 combinations all with an equal chance.  The operator can buy 100,000 tickets at zero commission.  What does the operator do?

It buys one of all the different combinations is what it does

I come along as the first customer and buy a ticket into this pool of £100,000.  As it stands if my combination comes up I'm getting a payout of £50,000 less commission on a 100,000 shot.

Don't bet the placepot.  You are getting ripped off

I'd be betting low odds that strategy was the bedrock of the Australian Croatian's fortune, who got TAB rebates back in the day.

You’d be getting far less than that. If they’d brought the full cover they’d have over 750 winning lines (assuming three places on each race). You’d be getting about £1000 after the takeout. Not a bad return if you had six placed favs or second favs though.

sure kenbo.  I'm using a simplified example to show how you are being ripped off

The takeout alone is enough to make it a bad bet. Like any kind of multi bet, most punters have had a great return from it one day and that’s enough to keep them doing it on a daily basis.

what if you knew all the other tickets and which perms would be paying above the % chance?

Then you’d have a license to print money, Swifty. Value betting every day!
