Yes, but I cannot understand how coffee is so dear, and in many cases so sh1tty. But the thing that annoys me most is the racecard, why is this not included in the admission fee.

People use 'less than the price of a coffee' as a selling point these days. I won't pay three quid for one.

am I right in thinking you used to be able a 'timeform' guide? didnt see any on sale yesterday

oddly enough I was talking about haydock admission at Newmarket yesterday. Only £30 to get in a unified enclosure at HQ for a dual G1 ++ card, which I thought was very very good value. Haydock has always been stupidly priced.

They were phased out and confined to history earlier this summer.

On the issue of coffee and price, can only assume 'market forces' - if people pay the money for it, they keep charging?

How does Starbucks etc still keep selling enough to make millions? People ay.

Went to Beverley last week gaff track think it’s in a group 1 pricing, £7-95 a pint, 1 scotch egg £5-50, small carton of chips £5 , cheap champagne £49-95, to get in £27 and £3 race are and the racing was -hit, getting somewhere to sit was hard work,  grandstand Yarmouth Carlsberg £5 that good pricing

TBF almost every 'venue' is terrible for prices, it's not just racing that does it - captive markets everywhere as 'events or venues' e.g. music concerts.

i admitted my dog to specialist animal hospital last thurs..on admittance told be £3500-£5000 depending on treatment..and half up front.

how do people afford pets like?

cant think why  people at beverly would think its a grade one track when people arnt moaning about the price of a cup of tea but the price of a bottle of champagne

HH, that's where they use 'emotional blackmail' as the form of captive market.

you can walk to your nearest beach,wood,hill,country walk, etc if you buy a bottle of champagne ,gourmet picnic to take with you it becomes an expensive day out,what has a bottle of champagne got do to with a weekday, racing at beverley ?

I think Costa are struggling I heard

Market forces can work both ways, so yes, they may have to consider prices perhaps!

My pup was diagnosed, at Supervets in Godalming, with menigitis.
That's Noel Fitzpatrick's company.

An m.r.i. scan and an overnight stay was £6.5K.
He was insured as soon as we got him and fair play, the insurers paid up with no quibble at all. In the end after chemo and various other treatments his vet bill in total was over £100K.

In other news...helping Mrs. B. on her market stall in Herne Hill market today.
A pint of Aspall's cider for her and an Americano coffee for me was £11.65.

That's just how it is.

Yes, I was a regular there in the 80's and saw plenty of decent bands. U2 actually played there a few times in their very early days.

It's now yet another dreadful S.E. London gastro pub, I haven't been in there for many a year and won't ever do so again.

My brother was one of the boxing trainers when they had the gym upstairs.

Yep  saw U2 , Stray Cats , Paul Young amongst others over the years,  .. I boxed for Hollington Boys Club , Camberwell .

String - the original Stray Cats line up are still playing a few concerts together each year, only in the USA it seems though.

I never liked them Dix , we used to go to the pub without knowing  who was on ,and it stayed open later than most pubs in the area

Well i would rather have caught them than U2   mind you in those days Bono wasn't quite so pretentious so didn't really mind them.


I thought the Stray Cats were pretty cool, Slim Jim the drummer actually married Britt Ekland

When Pret a Mange opened in Piccadilly early 90s I remember a cappuccino was 99p

Went to Redcar races the other week, they hand out a complimentary racecard, only about 10 pages but easy to find the races unlike Sandown where they cost about £5 and contain about 50 pages, 40 of which are adverts.
