I've just been having a look back at this from Monday, and imo a staggering decision, what the apprentice said in her evidence is correct.
On a narrow track she patently became short of room on more than one occasion, and surely should have been given the benefit of the doubt given her obvious inexperience.
Surely this has to be overturned if they appeal?

Was a truly awful ride, did she ever use her whip at all or ride out vigorous during the finish?
I get she is an apprentice, but is that an excuse for showing no effort towards a finish? |

The replay seems to show a reasonably clear run in front of her while she makes no effort.

The head-on is unequivocal, as the track narrows in the home straight she sought a clear run but clearly had nowhere to go on two occasions.
If they're going to slur people in such a way and impose harsh penalties based on video evidence, then they need to be 100% sure imo, and I saw nothing to suggest she tried to prevent that horse from running on its merits. |

It's not an opinion George, she had a clear run at several points and made little or no effort when so.

My only gripe is that they don't do same for 'bigger name' jocks

But a 14 day ban for her at this stage is a good sort of warning against riding with no effort in future IMO.

I watched it on sporting life, GEORGE, but no head on. Side view doesn't offer much.

saddo, the head-on showed that what Rebecca Parsons told the stewards, was in fact correct, ie:
She stated that she tried to keep her mount as relaxed as possible in the early stages of the race, then got stuck behind a bit of traffic in the home straight so she switched out and then ran tight for room again And this on a narrow part of the track where the runners were spread out. And the stable rep made the point that they had gone hard in front, which I suspect the sectionals will show was correct also, so she was closing on horses stopping in front of her, and probably made it look worse than it actually was. |
