pretty apt 4 days before the CAMBRIDGSHIRE got his leg over MELLOTIE a few times back in the day, big fav ofthose living our way,think he ended up getting a decent job as work rider at the CECIL BARN didnt he ?
i always associate him with guy reeds colours and those red silk beige cap colurs of sally hall trained nags,but robably wrongly so, RIP |

Always remember him winning the 1977 Britannia at Royal Ascot on Wizard King for Sir Mark Prescott. Rated 77 at the time before retiring to stud rated 119. He was a huge horse as I remember and it must have been akin to a feather on his back with John Lowe riding at 7-7. Thanks for all the memories John and rest in peace.

You're not wrong there Elis! When the late great Sir Henry Richard Amherst Cecil won the 1979 trainer title he posted a strike rate of 45% for the season!! Unbelievable achievement which will never be passed, Legend!
