The bookies were very different then. It was a place where one could actually spend an entire day fairly easily. One could have a takeaway for lunch or dinner. However, I was there too when the sad news about Hillsborough came through. The full extent was realised when I saw it on tv in the evening. after I came back from an evening at White City.
