The steamer with the speed to back it up
Method
The market moved hard on this one, and the engine moved with it — but the reason I kept coming back to Midnight Media was that the speed figure gave the money somewhere to land. Today's scan covered the declared card through a strict pipeline: odds between 2.0 and 50.0 decimal (no odds-on, nothing longer than 49/1), field sizes of 6–14 runners only, and a feature weighting that puts market movement out front at 1.6, speed second at 1.5, and form third at 1.2. Class change, trainer strike rate, and going all contribute but carry lighter weight. Draw bias is reserved for v2 — unavailable across all runners today.

Today's universe
The day opened with 36 races and 373 runners declared. The odds filter trimmed that to 321, removing shorts priced odds-on or longer than 49/1. Field-size enforcement brought it down to 182 — races outside the 6-to-14 band cut out. No runners were dropped for Lay of the Day collision. Those 182 runners formed the scored universe.

The shortlist
The top five by composite were Midnight Media at 7.43/10, Yamnah at 7.22/10, Timely Salute at 6.96/10, Scriabin at 6.89/10, and Blood Destiny at 6.73/10. Midnight Media led the field by 0.21 points — not a wide gap, so it's worth being honest that Yamnah was breathing down its neck. What tipped the balance for Midnight Media was the combination of a steamer market move and a speed z-score of +2.25, the highest single speed reading in the top five. Yamnah has the Gosden yard behind it and its own steamer read, but it carries three unavailable features — no form string, no class history, no going data — which limits the conviction the model can attach to it.

Why this horse
The read I keep coming back to on Midnight Media is the speed figure. An SR 82 against a field mean of 52.2 produces a z-score of +2.25 — that is a meaningful separation in a Class 6 field at Wolverhampton AW. It is the highest weighted feature contribution in the breakdown, and at a weight of 1.5, it does the heavy lifting. The form string '921212' is not flashy on the surface, but the decay-weighted score reads +2.06 and the latest run is a win — that matters at the 1.2 weighting applied to form. Dropping a single class rank from 6 to 7 adds a minor +0.90 on the class-change feature, which is consistent rather than spectacular. The going score (+0.50, 1-from-3 with two placed) is fine for good ground at the AW equivalent.

What worries me
The honest flag here is the market edge. The engine estimates Midnight Media's win probability at 37.7%, but the market is implying 42.5% — a negative edge of -20.9%. The horse is the favourite, steaming into 11/10 decimal, and the crowd may simply be right that it is priced correctly or even marginally short. The trainer combination of William Muir and Chris Grassick returns a -0.36 contribution on a 8% strike rate over the last 30 days, which is cold — not disqualifying in a handicap, but it does not add comfort. Draw data is unavailable, which means post-position risk at Wolverhampton AW over 1m1f104y is unquantified. Yamnah at 7.22/10 from the Gosden yard with a +101.6% edge is the alternative I would not dismiss if you want a value angle instead of a market-confirmation play.

Good luck!

Yet ANOTHER "bet of the day" stuffed. And odds on lol. Surely the least we can expect is for the clown to get the time right on his "bet of the day".

Edmunds must have thought another furlong to go , u could see early on loughnane had him compromised , edmunds is not fit for purpose and the trainers that use him must not be up to much

Remember the old bookies saying from a old man about backing a jockey on his next ride after he loses on a shortie. It pays off a lot more than people think. Interesting to see how he gets on in the next.
