I didn't bet on the race myself but I noticed the winner was backed from 33/1-9/2.

I wonder if some of the other jockeys were on :)

If the race is voided, the prize money should still be paid out. Another on course mess up.

Probably took longer to have a go at the flagman. Upped his game on 18:06.

Only just watched this back. Harvey desperately trying to find excuses for the beaten jocks. Bowen on a well backed favourite, was always going to hand the leader a 10-15 length start, whatever the flagman was doing.

What a mess of a race.
The new rule was supposed to help horses who are hindered at the start, for no fault of their own.
The horse that unshipped his jockey, should be a runner. His fault.
But the others were clearly impeded, and the guy was there waving his flag.

What was the starter thinking not waving his flag too?

The Result: Stewards confirmed the race result as valid because the official starter had not waved a flag or called a false start, leaving Woods' early advantage legal though chaotic.

Even if it was a valid race, the others were impeded at the start, making them all non runners, surely.

non were impeded..leader ducked left unshipped jockey..then flag man pre empted it was a false start and started waving his flag..quite a few jockeys presumed false start so assumed race would be stopped and were looking round...
