In the 70's I worked in Old Church Street off the Kings Road and sometimes a few of us used to drink in the Cadogon Arms after work. I saw Richard O'Sullivan & Tessa Wyatt in there (she was still married to Tony Blackburn). They were a good looking couple and quite happy to chat to the locals. I know he had a serious stroke some years ago and was shocked when I saw him during a visit Meghan Markle made to the nursing home some years ago. He was still up to making a beeline to Meghan Markle though. .

Sad he has died, but to me he now seems like a one-trick pony.

His lead role in Dick Turpin - a long forgotten TV series - saw him act as if he was still in Man About The House or Robin's Nest.

Quite possible he became typecast from those two roles but take a look at Dick Turpin which was recently on Talking Pictures Channel and you will not see him as a rogue outlaw, but as a guy who lived with two girls in the same flat! Shame really but a good innings. RIP. old son.

Part of 1970's life when we all watched the same programmes. During a period of a couple of years in the mid 70's his picture appeared more times than any other male on the front of the TV Times.

Did see him at a pub in Harefield in his Dick Turpin costume during a break in shooting. Definetly didnt come across as a villain, more of a playboy, must have been 1979. Think he made his screen debut as a naughty schoolboy in Carry on Teacher in 1959!

He was a bit of a child actor as well and started perfoming from about the age of 9.

Some nostalgic stuff there on those covers - the Wendy Craig one from 1975 made me chuckle - advice on cooking! Was before Bufferflies began but she also was a bit of an air head in the Mother Makes series's.

I'm amazed he lasted so long.

He was a resident at the E.A.B.F. home in Twickenham over 30 years ago.

When you ARE young and watching these actors you never think THEY will die. Suddenly those that entertained you are at the vulnerable age and you are not far behind in age. Thats why these adverts about cremation are depressing. Back to Richard, entertaining actor and seemed a nice person, thanks for memories Richard, RIP.

Still watch George and Mildred and the On the Buses religiously.....Never the Twain , another favourite of mine

O'Sullivan featured in the 1963 blockbuster film Cleopatra, as Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII, the younger brother of the title character played by Elizabeth Taylor.

Loved Robin's Nest but in particular Man About The House, I was always sad with the strange ending with Robin's brother (Geoffrey Fourmile from George And Mildred) coming in and snatching Chrissy away from him as it was a 1.01 shot they'd eventually end up together

During his run as Robin, O'Sullivan had relationships with two of his co-stars, Sally Thomsett from Man About the House, and Tessa Wyatt, who played Vicky in Robin's Nest. From the latter relationship, he had a son, Jamie.

Reckon Doug Fisher (Larry) had more fun being himself, he managed to kop a role in The Stud and the other one which must have been fun

rip richard o,s ,the old series dramas comedys seem much better than the stuff on nowdays currently watching cracker robbie coltrane ,very good 2nd time around .

He rather acted against type as Bingham in " The Doctors "
He is one of those you have been expecting to kick the bucket for a while though,given that he seems to have been badly affected by a stroke at 59. He appears not to have made anything for 6 or 7 years before that so maybe earlier problems.
Tessa Wyatt is now famous for Tony Blackburn's pleas on national radio for her to come back to him.

He was in plenty of the more risque 70s comedy films, the likes of which are often shown late at night on Together TV on Freeview.

If getting to film scenes with a stark naked Gabrielle Drake is "typecasting" i'd say the boy done pretty good

With his smooth style and easy delivery i had thought he may have followed in his fathers footsteps and gone into commentating, horse racing or other.
   That Au Pair Girls definitely worth a watch with gorgeous Gabrielle Drake, what a figure, believe we see rather more than a wet dress.

Extremely statuesque she was too stewarts, i wonder how many retakes Richard "engineered" for that scene

Sister of the late lamented Nick Drake of course, who ironically, despite being supremely talented , was a reclusive shy individual (unlike Gabrielle !).
