Racing Post has decided to "improve" the layout of windows opened when accessing racehorse form within the website. It is a dogs dinner now.Extra tabs appearing on your browser bar when a person accesses a horses form creating a sprawling mess of an experience.Extra tabs and windows remaining on your browser bar when you move on the next horse to study.
I guess no layout is perfect, but it worked a lot better before the recent changes. Before the recent changes,a person had smaller windows that opened up inside one browser tab when accessing form elements regarding a racehorse. Those smaller windows could easily be closed down within one browser tab, before moving on to the next horse.
Now it is a browser tab dump that constantly needs clearing up as you move on to the next horse.Less intuitive, slower in operation.Whoever thought of the changes does not study form,no right minded person would think the new layout is better.

I subscribe to the RP and they made these changes, and other changes over years, without any discussion with me or any other subscribers. I don't like the new card layout at all. They changed it without telling anyone or asking for feedback or anything. And nobody was asking for these changes. I don't know why they do it. Like, why is the verdict at the top? In fact why is EVERYTHING at the top of the racecard? Why are they so many buttons/tabs on the racecard? It look a mess.

It might be a coincidence but I've only backed backed one or two winners since the changes to the racecard!!!

Couldn't agree more. Too much scrolling up and down, tabs opening all over the place and problems logging in all the while. There was nothing wrong with the old layout. I want them to change it back to how it was, but we all know that they won't. It takes me so much longer to study a race; it's so frustrating. Cry

My guess is the RP has gone "phone first". Tbh I prefer the "new tab" but then could use the middle button to get that so did not notice things had changed.

I've not noticed problems logging in, aside from being logged out every couple of days but I'd put that down to a new time limit. You might want to do the cache clearance thing there, and cookies as a last resort.

There are other new changes that have appeared in the last week with no annoucement and appear to be retrograde staps. Eg 2.05 at Hay. Click on form of the fav and it shows it beat Arthurian. click on that race to check Arthurians form. New layout does not show details of its races, only a summary, that then requies more tabs. Very infuriating when it was previously available.

you won't find a bigger crock of sheet than the new RP website imo

I have switched to attheraces, not perfect but the new RP just too annoying, eyes all over the place trying to navigate across swathes of empty white space.

The Irishracing one is very good especially the quotes from connections very interesting and informative.

Irishracing is good but the negative is the form of foreign rnrs or
foreign races sometimes.

porterline: I agree with every word. Each new day I click on a horse's name praying that the old system has been restored, and that I won't get loads of new tabs opening in the browser bar.

The only positive way I can think of to look at it is that few punters do form study any more, and even fewer will attempt it now that it has become so frustrating. Hopefully those punters will turn to stats (or AI or whatever) and those of us who do still go through the pain of navigating the Post's website will have an even bigger edge.

As for those other sites listed above, they lack so much of the information which you find on the Post website that you might as well use the Post on a phone, where a lot of that information is also missing.

Have they managed to re-order the data tables (topspeed, postdata etc) coherently yet, numerically top to bottom?

lux -- if you click on any of the headings on the RP card, then it will sort by that column (and click again to reverse direction of sort: up or down).
