got told in my local one worst summer they had since opening the shop 90% money is on the slot machines

very sad

Shop has been open an hour not seen a person very very sad .Looking at the switch just thinking it wont be lonng guys and gals.

Thats very bad news for Betfair,Paddy is the major shareholder in paddy.betfair company.LOADS OD DEPOSITS GO THROUGH PADDY OFFICES TO BETFAIR.

No problem laying off shop staff but continuing with the gimps in the 'studio' or the likes of Crouch etc and all the other 'experts' telling you who to put your money on.

In fact its a mega disaster for all gamblers

Shops are for pensioners and the sick.....shut em down....cash is dead.....ull get arrested for carrying it

Thats why everyone in North London throw their cash on to the streets,they know there is 36 free money days to go.

I was shocked how quickly the shop experience has changed.  I walked past a couple of shops during Cheltenham.  In the 1990s and 2000s they would have been rammed, and fun.  A tiny handful of pensioners watching the racing and an equal number of younger men playing the machines.

Just small highstreet casinos now. Glad to see them go

Powers rent all the shops in Southern Ireland anyhow. There's been a few vacated over the last year already.

When they opened they would have had to apply for suitability of premises ,it hard to see them getting that if they were only intending to rent.But then again you may be correct

Brassneck the majority of the shops are on medium to long term leases. I would assume more shops would already be closed if Powers owned them outright.

Maybe they might start laying a bet take punters on then if there any good at what they do they will show a good business model rather than moaning about the tax and A/C blaming it all on that take a chance like we do if can get on

Just done a 12 hour day thinking where has the shops gone wrong.Here we go the fobts have Gone the silver money is still there on a morning but sad to say the guys who are having the 10 p round robins 20 years ago are still having there 10p round robins today the 25 quid race to  race punters have gone off the face of the earth over the las 3 years the shops high staking punters have been asked for proof of funds we all no what they have said the exex have gone through the roof the takings have gone through the floor sad to say its not going to get any better.
