In all my 30 yrs punting ive never seen the amount of jollys at prohibitive odds beaten out of sight , if people could see this spreadsheet  it would clearly paint a picture , the amount of cheating in uk racing is off not charts , horses blatantly stopped in front of the punter

Mics, you should be factoring in the ground has changed substantially. Some of these odds on favs are being backed off the boards based on GF form and they are losing on soft...

Its not just ground ho back 2 to weeks its shockinvg , i personally believe the bha are turning a blind eye to satisfy bookmakers , they know game is rancid now but bookies have to be kept sweet and this is what is happening , the level of stopping is unpreceted , u have likes of jamie osborne stopping in public , horrss doubling in proce within 10 secs amd then brought into car etc to stop , just look at hornby talimg a pull in stalls then 3 wide

imo a lot of people misunderstood the Chandler letters. It was not about conspiring with trainers to cheat but was a mechanism for Chandler to get inside info from trainers he thought were, let's use a euphemism here, shrewd.

If Chandler could persuade them to bet with him, then that immediately gave him inside info on which ones they fancied and which ones they did not, without them ever saying anything to him about the horses. If they had a big bet, Chandler could follow them in with rival firms, and if they did not bet, Chandler could try to get public money for it.

He would not have been the first bookie to work like this but it was a very crude way to try and sign up more trainers and hence get more info.

Thanks for the table, top2rated.

30 years ago sharks would see those results and try to sell a system based on backing odds-on favourites running in late afternoon and evening races. 20 years ago, laying the early afternoon odds-on shots.

I thought everyone knew that Ramruma, the idea being as you say if a trainer wasn't betting one of his they would lay it or not. I knew a guy who used to do bets for a now retired jump jockey (now has a small few as a trainer) and the bookies knew by his bets which ones he fancied or not, particularly if he was betting on one he was riding against... Haven't seen this guy in a few years until recently when I saw him in the parade ring with the owners of one of Joseph's.

Yes, MJK. It is striking that when you think of well-known old-time pro-punters, most were ring bookmakers who could see what connections were backing and by extension what they were not backing.
