Lots of people come from privileged backgrounds and make their mark because they apply themselves, no less than those from less privileged backgrounds.

Happy to say I cancelled it a while ago, and don't miss it's industry output one jot. She looked better than anyone else they had - possibly not saying that much - but anything beyond that is perhaps open to question? I assume she hasn't been critical of anything, so has probably fitted in nicely.

I saw her conducting OLBG interviews on you tube with Harry Derham et al in his yard. From memory most of those videos struggled to get 1000 views. They were half decent and competent I thought, but basically producing content that took loads of effort that was getting next to no exposure.

Being born into an affluent and high profile racing family won't give you a job on rtv. But it will be more likely that you'll have confidence, ambition, drive and yes, contacts. Maybe she connected with Harry Derham when he was working for pumpkin.

The reality is that most people accept their lot in life, and don't really try to go outside of their comfort zone. There's much more chance of being successful outside of the norm if you are born to parents also of that disposition. Let's face it, the pool of people with an ambition to be a presenter on a horse racing channel will be very small one. I imagine most people determined to do it, would get there if they had the capability.

Have you seen the WHAM! bio on netflix? I'm not a fan of Netflix content generally, but this was very well produced, all authentic content and input from Ridgeley. They went from absolutely nothing to superstardom as 'Yog' simply didn't want to give up, and obviously in possession of god given talent. Ridgeley readily admits he lucked out and just enjoyed the ride.

I imagine most people determined to do it, would get there if they had the capability.
