A true legend, a word that is much overused these days but fully justified in her case.
My great nephews and nieces received books from her foundation as they were growing up. Sad news indeed. |

I remember buying I Will Always Love You for 50p out of the WH Smith box of rubbish before it became famous.

Dolly Parton, global star of country music who mined her upbringing to write extraordinary hits
Savvy and driven, she also distributed 300 million children’s books and her Dollywood theme park became a major employer in her home state Gift link to her Daily Telegraph obituary:- https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/ea04570156973b14 |

RIP
Immense talent and a wonderful person who did so much for good causes. Not to mention a great sense of humour. She once entered a Dolly Parton lookalike contest - and lost! |

A great lady...
Michael Parkinson once asked her 'How long does it take to do your hair'. Dolly replied 'How should I know, I am never there!!' Talented, funny, clever and did good for others. Does the modern world make people like her? Doubt it. RIP Dolly, sweetheary. |

By chance listened to Dolly giving an interview on BBC Radio shortbread earlier this year and found her very honest. But thought after it this was a bit too reflective and wondered if she was near the end, it was subliminally very apparent too me and no surprise to hear of her sad passing
There was a definite finality about it. She has had a great innings and managed to keep on straight and narrow, keep out of politics ect, concentrate on a posative message and of course produce some nice music. |

Rest in Peace Ms. Parton. A wonderful long life, well lived.

Interviewer asks Dolly - "What do you hope people will be saying about you in 100 years time ?"
Dolly - "My, she looks good for her age !" ![]() |

Remember it singing to the tune of ‘Jolene’, vaccine, vaccine, vacinnnne, for the jib jabs for convid.
Nothing it wouldn’t do for the powers in charge and to earn a few quid. |

^ Well if the idea was to highlight yourself as a complete plank, well done. Nothing surprises on here.

" I don't worry about people calling me a dumb blonde coz I ain't dumb and I KNOW I'm not blonde". Top lady whose life shows the value of being authentic but sadly not many are. As George Burns said..."the key to success is sincerity. If you can fake that you've got it made". Too many take him at his word.

Dolly performing at Glastonbury in front of ~180,000 was pretty amazing. Universally loved for sure, my partner plays her music all the time in the car. RIP...

Another icon has gone. It's getting closer and closer to long-termers and horseracing purists.
