Takes me back to my Dad asking me to pick one in each race and going through the results at 18:00 every Saturday evening before getting fish and chips if i'd picked well.

He would have picked his own but made me feel like my selections were important Laugh

OH, BLIMETY - Horatio

I will have a field-day working my way through this lot, and trying to find other similar old videos  Happy

Only watched first one, so far - Always knew about the 'camera van' following the field from the A57 road alongside the length of the straight mile at Lincoln Racecourse; but the extra shots showing the whole BBC broadcasting set-up and direction was immensely revealing, and an astounding tribute to the technology that they used at the time. ✅

Watching that Lincoln Handicap - I thought - Winner Marshal Pil = Jockey Joe Sime - and the Runner-up Chalk Stream = trained by Eric Cousins.
Although I was too young to have seen the race at the time, I have, or rather now had, a long-standing love affair with the Lincoln Handicap, so was aware of of some the post-war results.

Well, I was nearly right - as Marshal Pil was trained by Sam Hall - who Joe Sime used to ride for - but the jockey in the Lincoln was Peter Robinson, top jockey to trainer George Lambton, and late a good trainer himself, and father of similarly future jockey Phillip Robinson
