Because they are mostly stupid or just don`t give a fck ! They get their training fees anyway ! A lot of trainers don`t even gamble on their horses !

obviously was perceived to be a 7f horse until ascot this year. so I think some people at least felt that a 7f that required staying due to tougher going that he has handled before would suit him more than NS.

as I alluded to, the going is hard to call as you wouldn't say it's soft, but it looks hard work on hammered ground.

Me thnks that Shoemark is looking more and more like the Greg Norman of golf from the 1980's and 1990's.

Loads of ability but often fails to produce at the critical moment, sometimes due to sheer bad luck and sometimes due to slightly choking.

Shoemark has plenty of time for things to change but owners and trainers will, naturally enough, will become increasingly wary of someone who does not always get the results he probably should. York week just finished was a terrible week for him, touched off on more than one ocassion and then a dreadful passage in the Nunthorpe.

Walker bumped Osbourne for KS, so he's probably got plenty of leeway. Would probably take the owners getting disgruntled. Didn't do too much wrong in my opinion, obviously if you try to go last to first in a 5f with a likely pace collapse, trouble ir is more likely than not. Tactics dictated by the draw, I'm assuming.

The trouble is that Shoemark does seem to encounter a fair bit of misfortune in big races.

Some sportsmen are, quite simply, lucker than others.

Greg Norman in golf was dreadfully unlucky a good few times, but he also choked more than once - 1996 Masters when he took a 6 shot lead into the final day and still lost to Faldo.

An old saying is that 'luck is the residue of hard work'. Totally true but Shoemark seems to encounter more bad luck than most. Or, perhaps he just lacks that killer edge?

In the International, I believe that Colin Keane would have won on the second has he been on it because he has that something which makes sportsmen world-beaters. I just wonder if Shoemark has that same killer edge?

He seems like a nice guy, so I do hope it turns for him and if it does it may well come in a flood!

No, didn't miss it at all. But it's relevant as that was intentional if that makes sense, to implicate luck in the tactics. Get a duff draw, roll the dice on a big outsider ie it wasn't rank bad luck as that was inherent in the preordained tactics (would be my interpretation). Obviously close photos can go either way and will most likely revert to 50% over a career of an upper tier jockey. Definitely Keane had two fall for him at York, so one more than could be expected on probability. Much to my chagrin on the second one!

Anyhow I don't see him in the mould of some kind of wasted exceptional talent, or missing out on even bigger rides due to lashings of bad luck. His profile matches his ability, perhaps even slightly overachieving as he is politically astute and perhaps above average in terms of intelligence.

Specifically I heard Walker discussing him soon after the Gosden shift. He held Shoemark in exceptionally high regard, so unless they have some kind of mega bust up, I don't see a split any time soon. Unless the owners get involved, as I mentioned.
