So far both drifted like a barge. Pulled up and pulled up. Stewards having a word? Of course not..
Report Angela Rebecchi August 19, 2026 6:11 PM BST
A few times they do win, though for sure it's a rancid stable, and you imagine they let a few drift and win as a counter to the obvious that they are plotting projects and not letting horses run to their merit.
Report stu August 19, 2026 6:18 PM BST
Stewards, into what?
Report stu August 19, 2026 6:18 PM BST
must be something not settled

£40 x 2, better than working for a living
Report EL11 August 23, 2026 2:46 PM BST
Skelton never wanted to send At The Oche.
Another clear non-trier after the dirty late drift.
Report Slicer August 23, 2026 3:09 PM BST
3.08 Delulu drifting like a small boat off the South Coast abandoned by the smugglers having landed the cargo.
Report duffy August 23, 2026 3:18 PM BST
Now that took some doingCryCry
Report Slicer August 23, 2026 3:20 PM BST
Started run too late. They knew!
Report Kriskin August 23, 2026 3:20 PM BST
Certainity beat - disgusted by the ride - should have won that - owner(s) won't be happy
Report uptheirons August 23, 2026 3:21 PM BST
Billy Smarts could recruit from this thread.
Utterly clueless
Report stu August 23, 2026 3:23 PM BST
Think that one was actually trying for once - you don't lose a short head if trying to get it beat.
Report Kriskin August 23, 2026 3:24 PM BST
It was a trier but a very poor ride
Report Slicer August 23, 2026 3:24 PM BST
Now now Mr Irons. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Drifts are there to be seen. The quality of the riding is up for debate, but not the drifts. Which ever way it got beat, it DID get beat!
Report duffy August 23, 2026 3:25 PM BST
It's not an issue about trying to get it beat, most of us don't believe that, it's the positioning, he shouldn't have had to play for luck with the traffic, the issue is why did he need to be so far back in the first place, he shouldn't have been playing for the lucky breaks.
Report Slicer August 23, 2026 3:28 PM BST
Will be interested to watch the hot pot in the next!
Report stu August 23, 2026 3:28 PM BST
Poor ride I'd agree for sure.
Report uptheirons August 23, 2026 3:29 PM BST
The horse was making its debut, for goodness sake
Report Slicer August 23, 2026 3:31 PM BST
Regardless of whatever reason, the horse drifted, got beat, general opinion was a poor ride. Coincidence or not is up for each of us to decide.
Report MJK August 23, 2026 4:50 PM BST
Looking back on the races now. Skelton's insistence on wanting to stay wide and run constantly into traffic got him beat. Poor ride. Both chases were clearly non trier, ran both horses into every fence. The winner well backed and ridden much closer to the pace than the losers which told you everything.
Report differentdrum August 23, 2026 5:07 PM BST
Mullins and Skelton, it's just chalk and cheese. Unfortunately, we have to put up with Skelton over here, someone at the top of the game who still operates as if he thinks the sport revolves around deceiving the handicapper, and of course the punter. He may as well be someone who trains 5 winners a season, always trying to land a touch to stay in business. I can't remember anyone at the top with the mentality of Skelton. Imagine if Willie started running all his novices and bumper horses out the back, people would think he he had suddenly lost his marbles. Yet over here the idiot media just accept it, no questions asked. It's effectively schooling in public with some horses having enough ability to outrun dismal rides. Good luck in guessing beforehand which are going to do that.

Who won the Trainers Championship with a record haul?
Mullins is the same as the rest of the Paddywhackkers but with better horses
Report uptheirons August 23, 2026 5:26 PM BST
Neither of them are there to help punters and why should they

The grim reaper of the forum.

In my 64 years have never known such a negative person as him. Thankfully I'll never spend time in his company, couldn't stand the doom and gloom

Report barstool August 23, 2026 6:15 PM BST
Most Trainers get a few ready for handicaps, part of racing and tolerated by the powers that be in the UK.

Not much we can about it but try to work out the plots.

It still pains when you back a "wrong one" all the same.
Report Busyfool August 23, 2026 6:23 PM BST
nobody mentioned that they are put in far too short to begin with so a drift is to be expected

or that some drift and win. there was one recently that went from 3/1 to 12 and won. if it had got beat the 'rancid' cry would have gone up

you could always try to lay em as short as you can in the morning and have a trade

Hellter Skelter is a stain on the game, treats punters with contempt.

Just stop betting in the races he pollutes.

Imagine spending all day throwing insults on here, defending the likes of hellter.

Sicko.

He trains for his Owners not the bleating plebs on here

Skelton was very good on Partridge playing his namesake Dan. Dan the kitchen baron.
Report differentdrum August 23, 2026 9:12 PM BST
The feeling is mutual Dealer. You seem to be stuck in racing's bubble, somewhere about 1830. You add nothing to the forum other than popping off your pedestal now and again to criticise someone who actually has an opinion. Not even sure why you are on the Forum other than to back the establishment over punters. I rarely criticise other posters because they are entitled to their opinions. Seemingly, that's all some people on here can manage, and they do it day in day out. It does nothing for the Forum, and it's very boring.
