Presumably, the trainer will be hoping he has one or two better than that. Backed to finish at least second, rather than tailed off.

He did say before the race that it as running so they could see what will be required for the later races in France. Also said he couldve run him in a UK novice, but trying to conceded a penalty to the type of horsesit has beaten would prove too much. So probably not expecting a great deal from today.

I doubt he expected it to be tailed off. Market usually a fair guide to what is expected from their 2yo's - 100/30-2/1. It was backed despite the money for the favourite. I suspect a few fingers badly burnt.
