Recently I looked at the Lingfield fixtures for the remainder of this year for a decent trip to the course for a lovely mid-week afternoon's racing without music or a disco blaring out and not a family day where you have kids screaming and running around and without a fairground.
Sadly, no such events like that this year ..... not a single mid-week afternoon's racing at Lingfield without all the guff to go with it.
I might suggest to the BHA that racecourses might like to have a horse racing themed event somewhere within their mid-week afternoon only schedule. I have my doubts that it will catch on!

Presenters on TV all in favour but they don't have to pay to get in! I wonder how much the racecourse
keeps of the extra charge? Why should I put money in the pocket of some millionaire pop singer in
order to go racing!

MokeGibboni, every Goodwood evening meeting has music. Every Epsom evening meeting....music. Every Lingfield summer evening....music. Every Newmarket Friday + most of the Saturdays the same. Newbury and Epsom moved afternoon meetings to 2.48pm starts Friday because.....music. I am in London surrounded by lots of race courses and there has hardly been a single meeting this summer that isn't set up f0r music. I have no problem with them making a few £ to keep things going but this year has been utterly ridiculous.

I would have attended Newbury both yesterday and today but for the insane cost of admission. Plus, the fact that you can't see the straight because of the stage.
Exactly the same story at Bath. Just to compound it, Bath sent out an e-mail this week wanting to know what sort of acts people wanted to see next year. Not a dickie-bird about what sort of racing, but as you can't see the racing because of the stage, I don't suppose it matters.
