Not big prices either...

He does well with the low level horses he is sent with over a hundred winners a season
By:
Picks the 'on' ones well yes. But othertimes...like this one....
By:
It is a scattergun approach and always has been.
Good luck trying to guess them, stu. |
By:
scattergun implies it's never deliberate, so not a good description IMO.
By:
deliberate either way too.
By:
I know a great deal more about the Yard than you,but feel free to think otherwise, stu.

Struggling to see what the issue is here.
Two horses in a run of the mill 6 runner handicap start at SP's of 6/1 and 15/2 and finish 4th and 5th. Not far off where the market would have put them. Not talking a Dick Francis plot here are we ![]() |

TBH 'insiders' approach is exactly why I have that view irons, thanks for confirming it!
By:
That's ok,stu.
The Yard are no way as shrewd as most think |
By:
They may certainly not be the punters friend, but they know who their 'friends' are for sure this mob.
By:
will have to agree to disagree with that view irons.
By:
"Insiders" have existed since the dawn of Racing
By:
Yes, and some stables go down that line of approach far more than others....
By:
Lower grade horses dictate opportunities available.
When was life fair? |
By:
I understand the motives for sure.
By:
Far safer to back better grade races, imo.
By:
I agree with comment to stick to better grade races.
At lower levels it if like lottery balls, no idea who will fall into the 1,2,3 holes. It is like trying to pick the best slice of bread in a sliced pan. |

its well enough known that ironmaiden was part of carrolls for a while as a retained hairdresser but chucked it in when it became clear he had to be shorn 3 times a day
the upturn in t c's fortunes coincided with iron exit and his special hair tonic being fed to the horses |

Same stamp as the late dandy Nicholls tbf……

Be very careful about your next post,Aceform

By:
I’m talking training ability……
Taking horses from other yards and winning races with them……Bla. |
By:
A fair comparison.
BTW,I know as much about hairdressing as Busy does about sobriety ![]() |
By:
sober now. most disagreeable
soon to be rectified |
By:
Quite so,Busy.

TC stable of last couple of seasons has changed imo . They've definitely become more shrewd and selective with certain horses. Yes they have a selection of moderate horses that just run every week, a scattergun approach.
Another thing i noted is horses have been going in on their first run for the stable , clearly doing something to sweeten them. |

He got a friend's horse to win second time out. It was well handicapped on it's 2 year old form but had been running like a drain with a top Yorkshire trainer. It was well backed into second favourite and won easy; that said they had expected it to win on it's first run for him.
