Tried to box him again and failed.

What are the odds of the stewards looking into this?

Nothing wrong technically. Winning at any cost is pretty low. AOB goes on about how all he wants is a good pace and the best horse wins. Absolute bow locks (pardon the pun)

I thought they did bad job of boxing him in could easily have stopped it altogether from getting out,

horse racing is not a team sport. Even the irish girl said "they threw everything at you" to Billy, his reply was he was held in by soumillon. Hailey Turner said he was held in by the ballydoyle battalions.
The law clearly needs to be changed.

Spot on Spock. Soumillon getting a regular job as blocker. Bow Echo was in trouble but put his head down and powered through very like Sea the Stars when they tried to block him. One of the best milers for years and a real credit to Boughey and Billy.

They're despicable and about the only ones who can afford to have enough horses in that kind of race to play team tactics. That aside, it could be a whole new sport, teams only and anything goes.... let's av it.

Can't offend such a big operation.
Breeding operation requires G1 winners, and they'll do anything to win.

That sort of "enterprising" behaviour is a bad image for horseracing UK and Horseracing Ireland. It's gradually but surely killing the sport of Kings.

Which Sheikh was uncomplimentary and scathing on social media when one of his star horses was roughed up or compromised by a battalion of AOB / Coolmore horses?

Puerto Rico was not ridden to win. The horse should have been rested to allow his mind to reset. Puerto Rico was there to be a nuisance to Bow Echo. Similar, Soumillon.

A load of total bollox on this thread lads sadly. The Ballydoyle jocks have done absolutely nothing wrong, and they’ve done nothing more than hold their racing line. If the winning rider finds himelf in a pocket, the onus is on him to find a path out, which he did …… there is no requirement for anyone to adjust their racing line to simply open up a gap for him.

dont think ive seen a coolmore horse so clear inside f furlong , hammered like thatLaugh, they just cant train a really great  horse can theyGrin

Its only matter of time when coolmore will become finished , wotten bassett was filing the hole befoee he died , no off spring of galileo too now , acquiring dubawi and frankel off spring is their reliance  now but rest of top trainers have these so dont have monopoly now , the writing is on wall for them , o brien strike rate at moment is shocking and that cup scandinavia is coverimg up cracks , in few years o brien will be shown up as fraud he is , i can see godolphin and gosden really dominating soon , young thady is a fearless man and wont bow down to coolmore and appleby is young enough to have the hunger , if u look at galway this yr o brien horses both finished secomd in races in targets and farms but not good enough to get job done , id say in 3 yrs time the dominance wil be gone for good and good riddances to them aidan and his son has irish racing destroyed
Report elisjohn July 29, 2026 8:17 PM BST
its been same more or less last few years, dominating trials and claasics, then on the whole mid summer struggling in G1 , relaying on 1 or 2 horses to keep things going, then wins the 3 year old classic leger and some of the 2 year olds g1

I think this is more a case of a giant mess than a conspiracy.
Thing is, Ryan doesn't do pacemakers.
I remember Ryan in 2017 on Cliffs of Moher in the Eclipse trying to follow his PM (Taj Mahal I think) and he clipped the front runner's heels losing all chance in the opening furlong.
Ever since Ryan has pretty much been left to his own devices as far as tactics go.
He has run some awful race in defeat. Dettori was giving him the complete runaround a few years ago on Enable and plenty of other Gosden horses. But Aidan has always forgiven him.

Ryan is a phenom. He won the Dewhurst on Beethoven about 20yrs ago  at 33/1. Aidan was gobsmacked. Thought he had no chance.
Ryan's Arc win on Found was truly amazing. An astounding ride.
Over middle distances and probably staying ones too Ryan is unsurpassed.
But he just does not see the point of pacemakers I feel.
Which puts the other BDoyle riders in a pickle.
They either go gangbusters out front and tire up the home straight. Or they hang around mid div like a spare one at a wedding. Getting in the way. Its what happened to Soumi at Ascot. And again today.

Maybe at the entry stage Coolmore thought it might be a small field so felt it their duty to try and round out the field for each way purposes.
Maybe they think Puerto Rico is a long term investment. Sort of like Duke of Marmalade 18 or so years ago. Average 3yo career. Stellar 4yo.
Either way.
I don't see anything sinister.
Didnt seem to bother Billy The Kid.
Report Cider July 29, 2026 9:47 PM BST
They are not just some absurd coincidences are they. We watch tens of thousands of races, so most can pick up on something out of the usual immediately. Like how unnecessarily close CS was riding to Billy. Would he have been doing that to Gstaad, absolutely not. His mandate in that race was palpably to make it as awkward as possible for the fav. And, yes, nobody can prove that because they aren't going to admit it. But we're not all doolally. And today could be within the letter of the rules, but they are operating outside of the spirit they pretend to have.
Report penzance July 29, 2026 9:55 PM BST
Loughnane could've put Bow Echo anywhere in todays race.
He even said he wanted to be near Moore.
People bore you to death with the team tactics line.
No different from any other stable having their own pacemaker in a race.
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk July 29, 2026 9:59 PM BST
Just seen replay. I'm no fan of team tactics and coolmore but Soumillon just held his line, imo
Billy wanted to track Gstaad off a fast pace and Soumillon was sat alongside.
No veering etc. Held the line.
Report Cider July 29, 2026 10:04 PM BST
Are you arguing that Soumillon wasn't riding a no hoper, and his primary intent wasn't to disrupt the main threat to second fav Gstaad?

It is tedious, if they stopped trying to ruin the races of their opposition, people wouldn't post about it. AOB has been doing it for years, so that is rather unlikely.

His son has plenty of races where he is mob handed, I've not seen anyone accuse him of running horses to screw up the chances of the key opposition.

There was an incident 20 years ago when Dettori flapped his gums after he got blown away on Librettist by George Washington in the QE2.
Think the Hef got two days after some scrimmaging coming off the bend. Stewards apologetically dished it out just to shut the Sardine up.

I can not honestly think of any other occasion where the authorities have intervened on the running of the Ballydoyle horses.
I stand to be corrected but this all appears to be a bunch of unsubstantiated confected outrage.

There is a najor difference between Coolmore and the rest. They are qhite willing to use a Group 1 winner as a pacemaker/spoiler. Very few yards have 1 Group 1 horse ndvdr mind 10.

I think it's a disgrace they use a Derby winner for peacemaking..should be a law against it!
Report impossible123 July 30, 2026 11:56 AM BST
Do AOB and Coolmore run a battalion comprising mainly of no hopers / space-takers overseas eg France, Australia, USA, Canada, Japan, etc? This is a serious question. I understand logistic and costs could be a deterrent nevertheless, Coolmore does have satellite stables abroad.
