if he watched the 1st rail & spotted the golden highway fair play
but that was a gamble to take that gap imo could have gone badly wrong

he took the gap but he also interfered with pikachu which was bumped off it's racing line.  he also bumped the runner up close home and if the one last night was thrown out so should he.
