Maybe. But apart from Billy, Billy's mum and the editor of the Racing Post each autumn, who really cares about the championship?

Win it once by all means but he needs to be careful not to end up like Brian Hughes over jumps, a champion who can't buy a ride in the big races. Loughnane needs to be a fixture in pattern races not getting jollies beat at the gaffs. Mithaaly 8/11 runner-up.

That said Winner seemed like he would come on for the run.

Watching race again, winner was following Billy, then came back into the middle and kicked.
