Starts at 1.50, race every 35 minutes, so 5th race at 4.10...
Then an Arab race at 4.35, back to "proper" race 6 at 5.00, then race 7 at 5.35

Don't they usually put these Arab races first or last?
Presumably not in the placepot or jackpot pools? Could cause confusion

Must be a condition of the sponsorship that the race is in primetime for tv etc

Reg,

It's the G1 Qatar International stakes over 8f, £482,000 to the winner, not a bad days work. Qatar also sponsor Arab races during Arc weekeend, in fact a couple of the entries tomorrow ran in the Longchamp G1 last year, the top one was runner-up.

It was the race preceeding the Arc.

I don't know any stats for Araab racing, but i find the favourites do well.

Cheers Andrew
I didn't mean to suggest the race was no good, I probably shouldn't have used the phrase "proper" racing. It's just the positioning of the race as Race 6 of the meeting and whether it's to be part of the jackpot or placepot.

Racing Post does not show the Arab race on their online card, which jumps from the 4.10 to the 5.00.

A false start surely in the Goodwood Cup; Trawlerman broke the stall. I think the race ought to be voided.

If you go to tomorrows racecards on the RP, scroll further down, Arabain racing is always listed separately.

Reg,

No worries, i never thought for one moment you intimated that Arab racing wasn't any good. There's actually a market up on here for the race tomorrow.

There is one Arabian bred who was very good Al Ghadeer who has been called the Frankel of such a breed, now retired to stud. Won 8 G1 races (amongst others) and was almost unbeatable. Ignore the RP form, they don't show full extent. We've seen him at Longchamp in previous years.

From the Al Shaqab web-site :

Winner of the Arabian Triple Crown in both 2023 and 2024, AL GHADEER is also a dual World Champion, having dominated the international stage with consistency and distinction. Unbeaten in ten consecutive starts, he retires with eight Group 1 victories, achieved in France, Great Britain and Qatar.

His record includes an unprecedented achievement: 3 consecutive victories in the Qatar Arabian World Cup Gr.1-PA at ParisLongchamp, making him the first horse in history to complete such a treble. He also captured the Qatar International Stakes Gr.1-PA at Goodwood on three occasions, underlining his speed and class over 1,600 metres, while equally confirming his stamina with top-level successes over 2,000 and 2,400 metres, notably twice in the HH The Amir Sword Gr.1-PA at Doha.

Trained for the major part of his career by François Rohaut and ridden in many of his greatest successes by Christophe Soumillon, AL GHADEER combined speed, class and temperament, repeatedly delivering on the biggest occasions against elite international opposition.
