Here you go ... 85 yars old
Queen of eventing Heather to receive an MBE for six decades of service Delight as Hon Heather Galbraith, 85, has her hard work rewarded Stuart Wilson 12 Jan 2016 The Honourable Heather Galbraith received an MBE in the New Year honours list. . And it’s a fitting tribute for a woman who has steered one of the region’s greatest events for almost six decades. The Hon Heather Galbraith (pictured) has brought international fame to the Barskimming horse trials. Super-fit Heather, who belies her 85 years, is the daughter of a lord but isn’t one for standing on ceremony. For she is the hands-on guru behind the Eglinton Horse Trials – only pre-dated by the iconic event at Badminton. She has seen Olympic riders come and go to her Mauchline estate and once welcomed Princess Anne and her then husband Captain Mark Phillips for competition. Miss Galbraith, whose father was the 1st Lord Strathclyde, regularly welcomes 500 horses to compete over her legendary trials. She said: “It’s a huge honour to be recognised in this way and I must say I am very taken aback. “I just love doing what I do up here and always have done. It is as much a pleasure to me now as it ever has been – I designed our cross-country course and enjoy welcoming those who come to compete. “I have 16 nieces and nephews who all love riding out on the estate and we keep around 20 horses of our own on so I’m still kept very busy and wouldn’t change it for the world.” |

Isnt one for standing on ceremony apparently. That'll be the Honourable Heather Galbraith that they're describing? That appears accurate enough. |
