Similar logic to not allowing flat runners to compete in "bumpers"

But that applies to both GB & Ire, Flat winners aren't penalised over jumps in GB.

Different jurisdiction. Different rules.

Nothing to do with the rules SS, just the race conditions and not just flat winners, applies also to bumpers and PTP and fillies also get the 7lb allowance in addition. The race is 4yo only but in 4yo+ they would get an age allowance, 5lb I think and fillies would also get 7lb in addition.

Yes fair enough,different race conditions.
I can remember a time when the fillies allowance on the flat was almost invariably 3lbs and there was no allowance at all over jumps. Bumpers didn't exist in GB only in Ireland where they were confined to amateurs. Women trainers never mind jockeys were unheard of. Times change. I wouldn't be surprised if the conditions GEORGE talks about cropped up in GB. |
