You're a very good player. Your move to Hamburg was the start of a foreign foray for English players. You're the pioneer. You're a better England player than Mr Lineker. You managed England internationally too.
RIP Mr Keegan!

RIP Kev. LLoret de Mar 1971 you were the quiet one, told us how you had been rejected by Leeds as too small and again by hometown team Doncaster( manager Lawrie Mcmenemy). Scunthorpe was the only team that took a chance. Got us to watch you play a match against Aldershot (managed by Ex Liverpool player Jimmy Melia)out there. You ran rings round them. Seemed too good for Division 4. The Scunthorpe lads told us to see them play in London. Early next season they were at Brentford. Ridicously two of them spotted us, I asked wheres Kevin. Dont you know, hes gone to Liverpool !. Mcmenemy brought him back to Southampton. What a career for someone who was too small.Loved his horses too. I think had the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup.

What other manager would go out and address the fans after selling the prize asset of Andy Cole to Man Utd in the manner he did?
Truly a one off! made himself great not through god given talent but sheer will power and work. Name a better header of a ball for a small man.

An enduring memory is having to comfort my 8 year old son as he cried his eyes out the day KK resigned. I tried to console him, explaining to him that these things happen in football, managers move on, there is always a new hero. He's 38 years old now, and just texted to tell me I was wrong that day. There were no new heros.

Keegan and Phil Boyer were at Scunthorpe and York. As reported in York Press there was a rumour about a swap. York manager said they will have to offer Keegan and 20k before we even think about it !

Oh and Cardinal - sorry to disabuse, but I was there. Wish I'd been in the Gallowgate "sucking it in", but I was in the West stand paddock, about half way up and level with where he hit the ball.

Saw him play his first game at Anfield after moving from Scunthorpe. Seem to remember they beat Forest 3-1, must have been around 1970/1 if my memory serves me well.

Some of Kev's qualities were on display for this very brilliant and memorable Southampton goal with Windmilling Mick Channon , heading & movement off the ball.
