Quicked up well, despite being hemmed in (deliberately hampered: 'race-riding' I've heard them call it)

Didn't see that one yet but Maltese Cross performed miracles to get up in the Group 1 from Ancient Egypt. Plenty of interference from other riders and a bit naive to expect them to let him out but Tom managed to get there. Maureen Haggas did not look very happy about the race but the result must be sweet. 1-2 for Epsom Derby.

I'm happy for Maltese Cross, Haggas and Marquand. I'm more taken by the performance of Behrayna earlier.

Very likely, got Barzalona out of jail. By far the best ride (Boudot) didn't win that race. Barzalona also over confident in the later staying Group race. Maltese Cross also got the grinning one out of trouble. Typically poor ride, should have made far more use of a staying animal.
