Well done winners mine were duff and the one that gave up placed!
No doubt the 3 yr old fillies were better, if only BEHRANA was there, not that they’re bothered.

Biased of course but why did Colin Keane give up his early position? Kalpana was still gaining at the line but far too much to do. Should have been at least fourth.

28 Pages for a race that could have been summed up in a sentence. Overkill doesn't come close.

Sunly might have been beaten yesterday but deserved to run there.
Guess next year as a 5 year old like Kap, funny how Graff kept the fairer sex away from Daryz!

But also sting they’d love to try for 3, their mo with retiring the fillies was that they are too valuable, their careers were cut short so he’s got to be worth far too much to race again?

Kalpana not good enough to beat Daryz but when you jump and get the rail after a furlong on a real stayer (which she is) why drop back and allow Daryz first run. She did scrape 5th which is a bit better than last year.

Soumi I’ll miss, glad he’s had winners, just watching back, Daryz followed him on Diamond all the way. Wasn’t worried being 3 wide as he followed who he wanted.

Some run from BCR and DN but struggle to have them on ablity alone and more the draw forced thar hands and actually suited them and perhaps ground was better off rail. Daryz just gets the trip perfectly and quickens effortlessly, has a class temperament. Wasn't too messy a race. Fav really dug me out as had laid second, every days a learning day. Kalpana as mentioned gave up a nice slot, pretty tame tbh and I suspected hard against the rail wasn't the best ground but they must of walked track. From that draw should been able to sit closer and just off rail but prob wasn't/isn't quite top drawer.
Caps off to Daryz.

Think he outstayed them BnB both hadn’t much form over the distance, Barza gave him 3 sharp cracks to get DN once in control he eased. Had the perfect toe and as you say might have been on the best land.
Glad Bay Cuty showed up well and that Epsom wasn’t a fluke.

Rishi on ITV reckoned the status of Daryz could be elevated to that of Dancing Brave. Really? Dancing Brave beat Bering, the unbeaten champion of France, Triptych, Shahrastani and Shardari. This renewal is pretty mediocre despite winning it in consecutive years.
Shame there was no interview of Princess Zahra post her horse's triumph on ITV.

you are right penzance . think maybe even 11 or 12 . i was there in 1986 and it was thrilling , but take nothing away from today's 2 time winner . i backed the stable companion that was given a shocking ride but the winner's turn of foot was a joy to watch . the arc is still the benchmark middle distance race in europe by some way , and how nice to see it run on decent ground .

"Not bad for a mediocre race, had about 10 GP1 Wnrs in it." You can beat as many G1 winners as you like. There has to be winners of them. Has he beaten a great horse either year ? He is a very good horse but for me not capable of what Calandagan did in '25.

The ratings have been updated and something doesn’t sit right with me.
If anyone is cheerleading it seems that the French Hanicapper is doing so in favour of the French races.
Maltese Crosshas been given a colossal 56 and Ben is slightly lower on 55.5
Considering he beat the same horse off levels seems odd that they are so close.
I’ll say it I’ve never seen a winner of the race rated so high as those going into the Arc.
Trevewas rated 54 for her Diane win, then 55 for her Vermielle win. To have her lower is extremely off for me.
Why because after the Jockey Club the French were proud that their winner was rated higher than the Epsom equivalent.
Christmas Day 51 and Con River 52.5 then boosted way high to 56 for his Eclipse win.
All very strange to me that these horse have been given such high ratings compared to Sunly and Kalpana.
Their form doesn’t match up.

I’d posted this about the ratings of certain horses and when you consider that Varindar was rated 53
It does look well off that he was rated 1 below Treve. I belive that that French Hanicapper has gone well over board with his ratings to improve the look of who Daryz has beaten in his second Arc.
Bright Light was rated 51 just two below Varindir which wouldn’t put him out of calculations in terms of ratings. I’d asked if he was over priced then suggested that it might be that Maltese & Vanadir were under priced. Turns out they ran alongsides eachother again. I’d said that you could run the GPDP over and over ans have a different winner, that bears out in their run yesterday.
Kalpana hasn’t improved, the days between races doesn’t suit those coming in from such a long layoff.
Varandir should have gone for the Chaudenay for which he was entered, Maltese the Leger which he wouldn’t have won anyway.
Many will say oh no not another conspiracy! But I believe that the only danger to Daryz came from within the same stable and was retired, for me BEHRAYNA would of stayed better than Diamond Necklace and had shown that she could cope with a slow pace as was yesterday.
I like to look back at races in the cold light of day, with no emotion, reflect with the hope in learning.
I knew that looking for another runner was the bad way to go after she’d been retired, but I was right about the fillies being better than the colts, an opinion which I’d formed through Pink Pantera beating a colt with form to Alam pre her Prix Diane run.
The memory of Daryz finding nothing off the bridle at Ascot was too much to let me back him with confidence, I’ll be careful with Graffard and how he shuffles his pack next year.
Sunly should have lined up, does he go down as a great, for some of the above reasons NO not for me.

CagliariG • July 15, 2026 12:26 PM BST "The colts no good" you stated Delashay!! What does that say about Behrayna who you are bigging up but who's time suggests she has a furlong in distance to make up on Maltese Cross who also carried 4lb more, no doubt you will have a magic quote that explains your comment?
Delashay • July 15, 2026 1:09 PM BST Another knocker with a grudge appears! No opinions just snipes!
Yes the, “Colts are no good.”
If blanket finishes are your thing then good luck!
Forget where I said that it looked like a great Leger trial!
That for it was.
“P P made Maltese Cross their new St Leger favourite, halving his odds to 3-1 (from 6) ahead of Derby winner Christmas Day at 7-2.”
They agreed also Wink
As for, “Biggin’ her up” I’ve talked about her being the wrong price when compared to Diamond Necklace on formlines that are there for all to see.

Delashay • July 15, 2026 11:26 AM BST She has the pedigree to win an Arc and while Behrayna (Sea The Moon) has a way to go to get there, Tuesday's experience in the G2 Cygames Prix de Malleret will stand her in good stead.
When things got tactical in the night's support act over the ParisLongchamp track and mile-and-a-half trip of the big one in October, the unbeaten Aga Khan Studs homebred was able to overcome and prevail like the class filly she is. Pierre-Charles Boudot was unable to benefit from his manoeuvre to get a jump on the 3-5 favourite at the top of the false straight, eventually succumbing on Pink Panthera (Chachnak) by a neck.
Adding to the Stud, Francis Graffard and Mickael Barzalona's abundance of talent heading to the autumn showpiece, Behrayna descends from the 1989 Prix Saint-Alary winner and Arc runner-up Behera. Now four-for-four, having garnered the Listed Prix de la Seine here and G3 Prix de Royaumont at Chantilly in May, she was able to emerge untroubled by the potentially disruptive wide move of the Diane runner-up and show her speed to close out the contest's final three furlongs in 32.47. Juddmonte's Dispatches (Frankel) was three lengths behind in third.
“She is a very talented filly and found her rhythm quickly tonight, but the pace was slow and then picked up pretty quickly in the false straight,” Barzalona said. “She showed she is a proper mile-and-a-half filly and was able to pick up straightaway when I asked. She's a promising filly and we'll be able to judge her in the Vermeille.”

Howard - I have to agree with you yet we'll probably get laughed at by most people regarding Calandagan...as nowadays, even FHG says Daryz has intimated that he's improved past him after last season's gallops together when Calandagan always held him snugly - he knew there was more improvement to come from Daryz...and nobody could disagree with that.
I tend to disbelieve connections when there might be an agenda...especially when one doesn't have a stud career to come and I'm sure we'll see Calandagan bounce back soon.
As I stated before the Arc...I don't know what went wrong for Calandagan at Ascot but I KNEW that it couldn't possibly be his true form as he is a proper champion who may well make history next season in The Arc, as geldings are now eligible. The form of Kalpana is far from gold-dust (I rate her through Benvenuto & Lambourn as 'officially' I think she's probably 4lb higher than is merited) despite her being an exceptional mare...yet she's still a fair way behind Enable. She's ran her race yesterday and I could easily see her bouncing back on Champions day...as she's a likeable, tough & classy mare.

Something HAS to win the G1 races & the 'trials' for the big day and over all...despite being a big fan of Daryz, he doesn't have the bombproof form of some great champions of the past who he's now ridiculously being compared to like Dancing Brave (which is incredibly dumb) by that DEI imbecile Persad, who may well be a relatively professional presenter but he's NO expert on racing and his opinions on racing are worthless and just not worth listening to.
He's a moron who I recall saying that he'd walk home bóllóckó if Zarkava won a couple of decades ago - some judge eh?

Who's better than him besides Baaeed since Frankel? He's definitely right in that conversation - that Champion Stakes is gold-dust form and he was darn impressive!

Herbie there’s NO chance of Caldagan facing off against another contender from the same stable.
For those who believe how the French Hanicapper has Maltese Cross 56 , Ben 55.5 & Varindir 53
As said Treve was rated 54 for her Diane win, then 55 for her Vermielle win
Then look,
SOTTSASS 54.4 for beating Persian King 2L (an easy winner of their Guineas)
ACE IMPACT 56.5 for a 3.5L beating of Big Rock.
They’ve been WELL over rated.

Penzance - point taken and I'd agree with that statement but was Cirrus Des Aigles not a proper champion? I'll ask again - in the last 15 years, whose form is superior? It's a short list.
PS - we have to disregard elites like Frankel and remain sensible & objective as looking at the bigger picture he's UNDOUBTEDLY up there.
There have been very few 130+ horses in that period and I think he once reached a provisional 132/3. Baaeed got to 135 as a benchmark.

I do not know...I'd be biased. Yesterday Daryz accelerated however, he seemed to take a while to get going, but going past BCR was never in doubt. The latter ran a very good race. I think Ace Impact showed better acceleration. He was more zippy - visually anyway.
I do not possess the same horsey knowledge or judgement as most here. I was only a keen and rather inexperienced bettor. Daryz is a good horse nonetheless, I cannot put the performance of Daryz in the same category as Dancing Brave. I'd rate Golden Horn higher than Daryz. Golden Horn beat Flintshire (a consistent performer), Treve, New Bay, Erupt and Found. There was more depth in the race.

That’s a fair enough assessment Impossible, I think what they said about him removing DB from the list is BS. Would rate GH a better winner.
He also showed he could travel and win from any draw.
I really don’t think that they needed to run Varindir if they rated him the same as GH and were trying to cover any bad draw scenario.

You guys have mentioned undoubted great horses and Daryz gives me vibes that he could've been even better if he was pushed by quality opposition but as does happen, he can't help who lines up against him.
That official 130 number I mentioned was Golden Horn's level and fully deserved tho' another quality performer in Ace Impact is a bit like Daryz in that he wasn't pushed hard enough... so he only earned 128 while Almanzor had a pound more.
To put that into context, as to what's requiered to hit 130...the mare great Enable only ever hit 128 and it might be surprising to some that another great mare in Treve hit 130.
Harbinger's incredible King George rout got him 135 and it's such a pity he wasn't seen again as on that evidence, he could've been a true great - he's already that...but I like to see it replicated!

He’s not had great season and would not have liked the sprint, though he did clock the fastest finish last year if I recall right.
Here’s something interesting Arrow Eagle beaten 7L in 2025 from stall 16 Beaten 6 1/4 from 14 yesterday. He’s not had great season and would not have liked the sprint, though he did clock the fastest finish last year if I recall right.
It was bottomless last year so I couldn't read into that too much...except to say Arrow Eagle's ran his race. He might've even found a couple of pounds from last year which is not unexpected as a 5yo. Despite the assumed under-performance, I also believe that's as good as Kalpana is.
I recall someone saying 6 months ago that it was an appalling Arc last year and was therefore critical of Daryz & Minnie Hauk but I totally disagreed...as what more were they expected to do? Put 8 lengths between the pack as opposed to 6 lengths?
While many weren't too enamoured with the placed horses at the time...I said back in April that I thought it was very harsh to judge the front pair harshly due to the opposition though admittedly they weren't as séxy-looking as usual renewals at the time but the also-rans have subsequently put that notion to bed as Sosie, Giavellotto, Arrow Eagle, Kalpana, Hotazhell, Aventure, Gezora, Croix Du Nord have all since won at G1 level...as well as numerous other G1 placings.
Needless to say...whoever it was (I can't recall) won't acknowldge that gross misjudgement
