Thanks Irons, but I've only just logged on and assumed that if the bend was a problem then the straight course was still raceable.

The trite observation is that "the CoC job is a thankless task". It isn't. They are tasked with producing G/F ground in summer yet nearly everyone of them err on the side of dousing to ensure Good, at least. You are correct UTI, they are terrified. Yet when they know the world is looking, and sending their top class horses to Royal Ascot, they are happy to produce G/F verging on Firm ground with no problems to anybody at all. If they do that at an "ordinary" meeting........30 NR's blaming the ground, "can't risk my horse on that" etc
