Did this horse not suffer a catastrophic injury at the 2nd fence yesterday? Richard Hoiles said in commentary it was ok, and the usual garbage RP Analysis from Hopeless Henry makes no mention of it, but the replay is still up in full, and it's pretty plain to see. I presume Richard was reading the race through his bins. I don't think the RP analysts ever watch the races judging by their comments.

Richard using his binos could see the horse moving between the fences riderless. From that distance it couldn't be clear that the injury was as bad. The cameras were following the field and the injured horse would have been out of view.

Hard to blame him.

Exactly.
Quite why the RP continually feel the need to "sanitise" events is beyond me

Yes, I meant to not blame Richard. I credit him for using his bins and not just reading the race from the TV screen.

..and in this case I don't think the RP were sanitising it. I don't think they realised. Apart from the major races, their Analysis comments suggest they're watching with the mildest of interest, if any.

Correct,ged.
The dimwits probably didn't even notice the injury

There was a good crowd at Newton Abbot yesterday, and a day of decent racing. Although one doesn't want to sanitise the situation it happened in the last race of the day and out of view of 99% of the paying public, so hopefully it didn't leave a sour taste for those unfamiliar with the realities of our sport.
